Definition of Asset Management3
Asset Management is a structured
process used to achieve the desired
operational and financial efficiency
from the public assets to improve and
sustain the service delivery potential
during their entire lifecycle.
PCGIP - DLI 1: Resource PlanningCapital Improvement and Asset Maintenance

The project envisages improved resource planning and asset maintenance as an essential disbursement linked indicator
The indicator conceives an Integrated Development And Asset Management Plan (IDAMP) by the city entities on a three year rolling term.
The corner stone of the IDAMP is the identification, listing and projection of the maintenance requirements of the assets, over the next three years.
It is of essence to define the assets and cover the scope of all the significant activities leading to the formulation of a GIS based inventory of assets.
Objectives of Asset Management5

Development of an Inventory of assets covering qualitative andquantitative information.
Development of a robust and effective asset management software, covering a range of functional and non-functional competencies.
