    Brothers,

With another semester down comes anotheredition o the Archer. As usual the members othe Alpha Iota chapter o Teta Xi Fraternity havehad a successul semester. Te bonds o broth-erhood continue to grow with the initiation o

the 14 members o the Fall 2010 Associate class.Tis new class has shown great leadership quali-

ties along with a good work ethic andproviding a good t or Alpha Iota.Tey were initiated on September30, 2010. Te all semester has

been lled with many activitiessuch as date parties, unc-

    tions, homecoming, intra-murals, and renovations.

As usual we held ourannual Wet n Wild, uyStrut, and Semiormaldate parties. All o which

went very well. Duringthe month o October wehad homecoming at Kan-

sas State University. Wewere partnered with Alpha

Xi Delta to help promoteschool spirit in the daysleading up to the ootballgame against OklahomaState. We received 3rdplace overall. All throughthe semester the men oTeta Xi have partici-pated in intramurals. Weplayed ag ootball, vol-

leyball, and many other types o individual eventssuch as bowling, table tennis, and racquetball.

Our 2nd annual Teta Xi and Kappa KappaGamma dodgeball philanthropy was held on No-vember 14, 2010. We had 16 teams sign up orthe tournament and the competition was heated

as was expected. We raised $1000.00 or MultipleSclerosis and the Manhattan Public Library. Wehope to have another successul all philanthropynext year and start up a spring philanthropy withthe new Zeta au Alpha chapter on campus.

Renovations to the house have been on the riserecently. We are hoping to renovate the 3rd oorbathroom along with the basement bathroom.Moms club money will help with many smallerrenovations such as lighting. Many o these newideas are due to a new and very motivated execu-tive board. Te new executive board was instatedon November 28, 2010 and elected two weeksprior. We all have many ideas and suggestions or

improvements to the raternity and hope to incor-porate them into this coming semester.

In the Spring 2010 semester we placed 4thin grades out o all raternities on campus. Tisis down since last semester, but the men are allworking their hardest to bring ourselves back toour 3.4 we had two semesters ago. With nalscoming up brothers are scarce around the houseas they began to search or good study areas orthe upcoming weeks. We are all greatly lookingorward to winter break when a number o us willbe making the trip to New York to see KansasState play in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Other upcoming and current events consist othe Presidents and Rising Stars Academy held inSt. Louis in mid January and nding a new housemother. I will be attending along with ve reshmen who have all shown desire to someday holdleadership positions in the raternity. We all hopto learn about the rich history o Teta Xi Frater

nity, leadership skills, and meet ellow brothersrom around the nation.

Te house mother hunt began a little over amonth ago when we were inormed by Mom Denise Stultz that she would be leaving ater the Fal2010 semester concluded. Denise will be movingto live in Illinois with her current boyriend DaveShe has thought long and hard about this decision and believes that at this point in her lie it iswhat is best or her. Obviously we will all miss hegreatly as she will be difcult to replace. Howeverwe currently have two good candidates lookinginto the job. We hope to have the situation solvedby the start o winter break.

All in all our house is running smoothly due, inpart, to a great deal o help rom our current chapter advisor Je Gill. With his constant inuencethe men o this chapter are able to keep our priorities in order and turn out results. In conclusion would like to remind you that you are all welcometo come by and visit at any time. Wish us luck inthe upcoming semester as it will be packed ull oactivities and events all across campus.

What does it take to be the best chaptero Teta Xi in the entire country? Outstandinggrades? Intramural Championships? Philan-thropic successes? In actuality, it takes all o thesethings and more.

Each year, an honor is bestowed upon two

chapters o Teta Xi around the country. Tishonor is highly prestigious amongst chapters, and viewed as a highly coveted award to win. Tishonor is the Memorial rophy.

Te Memorial rophy is an award given to thetop two chapters in the country, Scott Soptick,

Alpha Iota 913 and senior in accounting, said. But it means so much more than that.

Teta Xis around the country work hard allyear to be recognized as one o the best and re-ceive the Memorial rophy.

Winning the Memorial rophy is making ahuge statement, Soptick said. It is a statementthat says, this is a group o guys that have goals, that are motivated to achieve, and that take the

standard and go beyond it. It exemplies want-ing to be the best and then backing it up with ac-tions.

Each year, the Memorial rophy recipient isannounced in the middle o all or the previousacademic year. Tis October, the Alpha Iota chap-ter o Teta Xi was surprised when Dr. Phil Bar-

rineau, Gamma Pi 23 and Director o LeadershipDevelopment or Teta Xi Fraternity, announcedthat they were once again the recipients o theMemorial rophy during his visit to the chapter.

It was a bit o a shock, yler Hamilton, AlphaIota 933 and sophomore in Teater Production, said. I was excited. It was a big honor to knowthat we were once again considered the best Teta

Xi chapter in the entire country.Tough, Alpha Iotas are accustomed to receiv-

ing such praise, as they have now received theaward in 11 o the past 20 years. However, themen o Alpha Iota remain very humble and appre-ciative o the recognition.

Tere are over 50 chapters o Teta Xi nation

wide, and to be recognized as the best that manyyears in such a time rame says a lot about thmen in this house, Soptick said. It says that wwerent just good or a certain period o time, buthat we have always strived to be the best.

And so, once again, the Alpha Iotchapter o Teta Xi has made a statement. Tey

have made their statement with achievements inacademics, athletics, philanthropy, and six otheareas o critique.

Teyve once again made the statement thaor the past year they truly were the best.

Commitment to Excellence Proven Once AgainHard work and a commitment to the purpose o Teta Xi have propelled Alpha Iota to win its eleventhMemorial rophy in twenty years.written by Alex Burnett | A.I. 958
