Retinal blood vessels are windows to the cardiovascular system. Objective evaluation of arteriolar narrowing can give an indication of risk of stroke, cerebral atrophy, or myocardial infarct. This system measures automatically the arteriolar-to-venular diameter ratio (AVR), which can be used as an objective risk indicator.
