Region 1 is growing in pace to achieve the goals and objectives that have been set earlier in this Fiscal year. The following is a list of accomplishment from our various projects and activities carried out in Region 1:

1. Administration

Overall, Region 1 clubs has shown consistent administration except for two clubs which has been backsliding and catching up is needed. Further details will provide by Zone Chairpersons respectively.

2. Lions In Action

First of all, Lions in Action Rally has been successfully held on 22-24 October. Region 1 team started out with the Flag off in Kuching at Lions Nursing Home by DG Karen Koh on 22 October 2009 and concluded the Rally in Miri on 24 October 2009. As a whole, Region 1 has come out with 8 cars and 23 Participants.

A Cataract joint project between Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan Lions Clubs led by ID Ellis and Guangdong Guangming lions clubs were successfully held on 12th -15th October. A precise number of 175 cataract operations have been successfully carried out.

In pace, a Lions Nursing Home Charity food fair led by Region 1 Clubs will be held on Sunday 15 November. There will be proximately 80 food stalls to be set up. Fund raising is targeted to reach RM 100,000.00.

Tentatively on 13th December, Region 1 will organize a Health Screening Project in Padawan.

3. Membership Growth/Extension

Region 1 has shown consistent growth in membership. We have been recruiting a number of members recently. This adds life and spirit to our Club. This becomes the backbone for our future.

On top of that, Region 1 is planning and will do our very best to charter one new club.

4. Leadership Development

Region 1 has sent seven participants to attend Sibu MERL Conference and one participant to participate in KK MERL Conference.

Short Talk has also been given to LC Bau on the 15th September and LC Kuching Hornbill on the 20th October 2009.

5. Unity, Harmony & Retention

Region 1 has organized a Peace poster contest on the 29th September 2009 to help promote the awareness of Peace, Harmony and Unity.

Region 1has extend the spirit of Lionism to other areas through the International Club Twinning between LC Kuching Ixora and Guangdong Guangming Lions Club has been carried out on the 13th October 2009 in Conghua, Guangzhou increase our Global Vision.The twinning ceremony was attended by 12 Malaysia Lions, 4 Singapore lions and 45 Guangdong lions.

Futhermore, Region 1 will be having Inter-Regional Visits as below:

• Sibu Lions on the 22nd November 2009

• Bintulu Lions on the 23rd November 2009

• Miri Lions on the 24th November 2009

Region 1 is also planning Cultural activities to build up cultural appreciation, hence promote unity and harmony.
