Whatis
K-12
K-12 means Kindergarten and
the 12 years of elementary andsecondary education. Kindergartenrefers to the 5-year old cohort whoundergoes a standardized Kinder
curriculum. Elementary educationrefers to primary schooling thatinvolves 6 or 7 years of educationwhile secondary education refers
to high school.

The enhancement curriculum willoffer areas of specialization orelectives such as science andtechnology, music and arts, agricultureand fisheries, sports, business andentrepreneurship, etc., and subjects
for advanced placement.

As part of the bigger basic educationreform, the enhanced K-12 educationis undertaken hand in hand with thevigorous efforts to ensure adequacy of
inputs.
Change is two-fold: curriculumenhancement and transitionmanagement.
An open and consultative processwill be adopted in the developmentand implementation of K-12.
