IHF Recognition in 1994:

The international interest in Beach Handball grew permanently.

Beach Handball became recognized officially by the International Handball Federation (IHF) in May 1994.

International rules of the game for Beach Handball were fixed during the IHF congress in September 1994 in Harleem (Netherlands).

2 International Recognition

First International Matches:

Besides a demonstrational match (Italy vs. Netherlands), the first videotapes showing Beach Handball were distributed to the participants of the congress of the IHF.

One of the intermediate results was that Beach Handball was to establish itself in Brazil and Africa soon, too.

Beach Handball Worldwide:

How popular is new sport has become within a few years is proven by the fact that Beach Handball is played on every continent.

Activities have been registered in Africa, South America, Asia and Oceania.
