Welcome to our 2016 “Come out and Play” catalog! Here you will find many new things, to include a new Director. It is my great honor to assume leadership of the City of Sacramento’s Department of Parks and Recreation. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with the diversity of our programs and the beauty of our parks as I continue to tour them. I hope that you will find many to explore as you page through this compendium. By way of introduction, I am new to Sacramento City government, but I have been serving as a leader in federal and state government positions for over 35 years. That service began with a 30 year career in the United States Marine Corps, and I served for the last three years as a Governor Appointed Deputy Director of California State Parks. The best part of being your new Director is having the ability to directly contribute to this great Sacramento community. I share the vision of making Sacramento the “Most Livable City” in California, if not the country. I treasure the opportunity to be a steward of our city’s Parks and Recreation programs. Sacramento is truly a City on the rise, with vibrant neighborhoods, welcoming communities, and diverse opportunities for outdoor recreation. Our Parks and Recreation programs, recently reinforced by Measure U funding, continue to surge to the needs of this expanding population. Please continue to support our places and programs by safely enjoying their benefits. The spring and summer are upon us; time to “Come out and Play!”Best regards,

Chris ConlinDirector, Parks and Recreation
