The overall objective of the EC4SafeNano project is to develop a distributed Centre of European organisations for Risk Management and Safe Innovation for Nanomaterials & Nanotechnologies. The operational objectives are therefore:
*To understand the needs of the various stakeholders.*To identify the resources and capabilities available inside/outside the consortium to address the stakeholder needs.*To provide solutions and build a range of services.*To develop mechanisms and operating procedures.*To test and benchmark the services.*To develop a sound exploitation plan and business plan.
The project is structured around a core consortium of partners and an enlarged community of associate partners (APs). The main objective of the open focus network is to design subject-specific focus groups. The Focus Network is accessible to everyone upon becoming a registered member by joining as an associated partner.
The EC4SafeNano Day will be organized as satellite meeting during nanoSAFE 2018. The vent consists of three workshops. By participating in the event, you will learn more about our project and help us develop a centre that will be applicable in your own stakeholder context.

The workshop will allow bringing together all nano-safety relevant experts from pilot line/production projects, hence, real-life and application-oriented nanosafety and Safe-by-Design expertise. The workshop is aiming at helping pilot projects in order to assess and tackle safety issues throughout harmonization of the approaches
and promotion of available tools. To reach that goal, the following topics will be presented:
• EPPN mini survey on processes and materials used in pilot lines along with relevant exposure scenarios• Selected tools and methods that are available to conduct safety assessment and implement risk minimization measures in workplaces • Critical review on conducted case studies from recently ended and ongoing H2020 projectsThis interactive session will promote discussion between EPPN and NSC in order to adress the needs from pilot projects with nanosafety expertise. The discussion should also lead to potential future cooperation between projects for the development of cross case studies and to joint dissemination of projects results.

The first round table of “NanoSAFE 2018” will give an overview of urban pollution in a global context, and a focus on the ultra fine particles : the health impact and the different solutions and ways to act for mitigation.
The moderator and the panellists will discuss around the following topics :
•Survey of atmospheric pollutionAtmospheric particles pollution: Context, Sources, Issues and ImplicationsUltra Fine Particles monitoring in France and elsewhere in the world

DAILYPROGRAMME
The second round table of the 2018 edition of the NanoSAFE conference will be focussed on the E171 case as an example of how a Member State legislation might have impacts beyond the national level. From the interpretation of the precautionary principle to labelling and traceability requirements, the E171 case represents a challenge for the industry, policy-makers and regulators and also for the society in general as it questions fundamentally the societal perception of risk and technology.
The round table moderator Anthony Bochon (attorney and expert in nanotechnology law) invited panellists to discuss the following topics:
• Metrological aspects
• Societal perception and philosophical perspectives
• Industrial perspective
• Food law aspects
• Policy perspective
Panelists: Thierry Guerin (ANSES, France), Alexei Grinbaum (CEA, France), Claire Skentelbery (Director general of NIA), Elodie Lebastard (Brussel-based food law consultant), Federica Lodi (EFSA).
