LW “Walkable” Installation Details

ExtrusionsGrid members shall be extruded ofaluminum alloy 6063, with temper T5,and shall feature upturned flanges tocreate a channel to receive the filtersealant gel, and a continuous 1/4-20screw boss for field attachment ofconnecting and suspending devices.Cross tees shall have ends which arefactory back cut and coped for optimalface alignment and system strength.


Fire Protection:Fire sprinkler penetrations may beaccomplished via nominal 6-inch x24-inch sprinkler blank panels,clamped in place and having a holefor sprinkler pipe installation. Optional

thru-grid sprinkler provision isavailable utilizing exclusive FlexHeadfire sprinkler assemblies thru factoryfabricated grid penetrations. Theseassemblies are F.M. approved, andfeature 6-feet long flexible stainlesssteel supply pipe on a 24-inch longnipple with mounting brackets andfactory-installed sprinkler head.

Custom LW Blank PanelsWhen required, Gordon can provideblank panels with downturned knifeedges to mate with the LW grid gelchannel. Corners are welded andsealed, and are finished to match theWS grid members.

Light Fixture CompatibilityTeardrop fixtures: Gordon’s LWsystems are designed to mateperfectly with standard 2-inchteardrop light fixtures. For greatestease of installation, consider theGordon LW-ScrewSlot extrusionshown above.

LW-ScrewSlot GridWhen uti l iz ing in-room uti l i ty/process pipe racking or teardropl ight f ixtures with 2-inch grid,consider the LW-ScrewSlot (shownabove) for the fastest, simplest, andcleanest installation alternative.Featuring a 1/4-20 continuous screwboss in the room side surface of themain tee, the LW-ScrewSlotextrusion al lows for fast easyattachment of fasteners, rackattachments or teardrop l ightfixtures. And no drilling is required,eliminating any potential leak pathinto the cleanroom from the pres-sure plenum, and making instal-lation of lighting and accessoriesclean and simple. A vinyl trim insertprovides an attractive, secure sealfor mains where no attachments areinstal led. The insert may beremoved, trimmed, or relocated asadditional equipment is installed orrelocated. Gordon offers this specially designed gasket sealsystem for use where automated materialhandl ing systems are uti l ized. Slots in thereinforced flange receive AMHS suspension clipswhich can be relocated anywhere in thecleanroom, with no drilling required.

Gordon’s DS-40 Double -T extrusion providesadded design versatility to any of our DS gasketseal 2” grid systems. This special 4” wide gridmember allows simple through-grid penetrationsfor rigid fire sprinkler plumbing, static controlsystems, or other utilities without interfering withfilters or lighting fixtures.

Hold down clips to secure ceiling fixture insertionsare available for all of the Gordon cleanroomceiling systems. Consult your Gordon salesprofessional for assistance when specifying the holddown devices for your cleanroom ceiling installation.

Gordon offers custom fire protection assembliesspecially engineered by Flexhead exclusively foruse with any of the Gordon cleanroom ceilingsystems. Maximum installation ease and flexibilityare provided by these fixtures, which includefactory installed sprinkler heads, narrow profilereducing nipple, and 6 foot flexible stainless steelsprinkler drop. All fixtures are factory tested andFM approved to assure reliability.
