The Williams Chamber Players is a faculty chamberensemble, founded at Williams in 1999. Its purposeis to present concerts for the college and communitythroughout the academic year. Antecedents of theWilliams Chamber Players are The Williams Trio,founded in 1970, and the Group for 20th CenturyMusic, founded in 1989. Repertoire for concerts isdrawn from the standard chamber music with

special attention to music of the 20th and 21st centuries, and to music by Williamscomposers. Musicians are normally drawn from the ranks of Artists in Residence,Artist Associates, and other faculty, as well as occasional visiting artists.

Zachary WadsworthZachary Wadsworth’s compositions have been heard in venuesaround the world, from Washington’s Kennedy Center to Tokyo’sTakinogawa Hall, and have been performed by such ensembles as thechoir of Westminster Abbey, the Yale Schola Cantorum, the BuffaloPhilharmonic Orchestra, and the Atlanta Philharmonic Orchestra. Asthe 2012-2013 recipient of the Douglas Moore Fellowship for

American Opera, Wadsworth was in residence at the Metropolitan Opera and the Santa FeOpera. In 2014, he had his Carnegie Hall debut.

Winner of an international competition chaired by James MacMillan, Wadsworth’s anthemOut of the South Cometh the Whirlwind was performed at Westminster Abbey in the pres-ence of Queen Elizabeth II. Other recent honors include a Charles Ives Scholarship fromthe American Academy of Arts and Letters, three Morton Gould Young Composer Awardsfrom ASCAP, and first-prize recognition in competitions sponsored by the AmericanComposers Forum, the King James Bible Trust, Long Leaf Opera, the Pacific Chorale, theBoston Choral Ensemble, and the Esoterics. Wadsworth’s music is widely broadcast anddistributed, with recent publications by Novello, G. Schirmer, and E.C. Schirmer, and air-ings on NPR, BBC, and CBC.

Wadsworth earned graduate degrees from Cornell University (DMA) and Yale University(MM), and is an honors graduate of the Eastman School of Music (BM). Originally fromRichmond, Virginia, Wadsworth (b. 1983) has previously taught at the Interlochen Centerfor the Arts and the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada.
