Emergency Plan Guidelines
Policy Statement
[Company Name] is committed to having an emergency plan in place for each workplace toassist workers and the public to respond to any emergency situation.
Emergency Plan
All workplaces require:
a A method for reporting the emergency!b A list of workers responsible in emergency situations and how to contact them!c A plan for incident investigation and correction of the ha"ard!d A list of phone numbers for emergency and support services #should be posted by
telephones
$orkplaces may also require:a A method for sounding the alarm!b A description of potential emergencies!c A map of the workplace that shows evacuation routes and head count location% as well a
the location of emergency equipment% first aid station and fire e&tinguishers
d An evacuation% head count and rescue plan.
Plan Testing
At the discretion of the supervisor% emergency plan rehearsals may be held. A rehearsal shallrequire:
a Notification of emergency services% all supervision and possibly prior notification ofworkers!
b A pre'determined all clear signal to allow rapid return to work!c An evaluation system to determine the effectiveness of the emergency plan. #(his is
usually only a stopwatch timing to determine evacuation time..
Planning the Emergency Program
)f the pro*ect is located within a plant which has an e&isting emergency and evacuation plan% thesupervisor must learn it and establish only those procedures necessary to complement the plansystem and ensure a complete +mergency ,lan for the pro*ect site.

Guidelines for Preparing an Emergency Plan
All pro*ects require an emergency plan. (he magnitude and comple&ity of the plan depends onthe si"e of the pro*ect-workplace. equired elements are:
/. Assign a person that is responsible to provide or set up training for the emergencyresponse plan.
0. A method for reporting the emergency. 1enerally% telephone is the most effective!however% an alternative should e&ist if the emergency disables the site phones.
2. A list of workers responsible in emergency situations and how to contact them. (hisshould be plainly posted. +g. 3irst Aid
4. A plan for incident investigation and correction of ha"ard.
5. A list of phone numbers for emergency and support services. (his should be postedby the telephone.
6. A method for sounding an alarm% such as an air horn or warning bell.
7. A description of potential emergencies. (his is e&tremely important from aneducational standpoint. +mergency preparedness is essentially based on anticipatingall possible situations.
8. A map of the work place that shows evacuation routes% muster point% head countlocation% as well as location of emergency equipment% first aid station% firee&tinguishers. (his should be designed at the start of the *ob and posted where visibl

Definition#
Any situation that occurs% on'site or off'site% that has a severe traumatic impact on the staff in thoffice% shop or on construction sites.

shock and traumatic impact on any individual presents its self in many ways.
