NOTICE OF RACE Vallarta Yacht Club

NOTE (2 Apr 2018): The price of the event has been modified. [DP] denotes a rule for which the penalty is at the discretion of the Protest Committee. This changes RRS 64.1. [NP] denotes that a breach of this rule will not be grounds for a protest by a boat. This changes RRS 60.1(a).

1. RULES 1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of

Sailing. 1.2. No national prescriptions will apply. 1.3. If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.

2. ADVERTISING [DP][NP] 2.1. Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the

organizing authority. If this rule is broken, World Sailing Regulation 20.9.2 applies. 3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1. The regatta is open to all boats of the J70 class. 3.2. Eligible boats may enter by completing online entry form at

http://www.vallartayachtclub.org 3.3. Late entries will be accepted provided a late fee of 500 MXN is paid. 3.4. No entries will be accepted after the event skippers meeting

4. FEES 4.1. Required fees are 3000 MXN per boat (this is a change from previous version)

5. SCHEDULE 5.1. Registration: 20 April 2018 0830-1030 5.2. Mandatory Skippers’ Meeting: 20 April 2018 1030-1130 [DP][NP] 5.3. Dates of racing:

5.4. No more than four races per day will be held. 5.5. On the last scheduled day of racing no warning signal will be made after 1530.

6. MEASUREMENT 6.1. A boat shall comply with RRS 78.1 at the time of the first start, and all subsequent

starts. 7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

7.1. The sailing instructions will be available online after 1700 on 18 April 2018. 8. VENUE

8.1. All meetings and registration will be held at the Vallarta Yacht Club clubhouse, located in Paradise Village Resort, Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit.

8.2. Attachment A shows the location of the racing area. 9. THE COURSES

9.1. The diagrams in Attachment B show the courses, including the approximate angles between legs, the order in which marks are to be passed, and the side on which each mark is to be left.

10. PENALTY SYSTEM 10.1. For this event, RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by

the One-Turn Penalty. 10.2. Decisions of the protest committee will be final as provided in RRS 70.5.

11. SCORING 11.1. RRS Appendix A scoring will be used. 11.2. Three races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

11.2.1. When fewer than six races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

11.2.2. When more than five races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

12. SUPPORT BOATS 12.1. Support boats shall be marked with a white flag.

13. BERTHING [DP] 13.1. Boats shall be kept in their assigned places while they are in Paradise Village

Marina. 14. HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS [DP]

Boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee.

15. DIVING EQUIPMENT AND PLASTIC POOLS [DP] Underwater breathing apparatus and plastic pools or their equivalent shall not be used around boats between the preparatory signal of the first race and the end of the regatta.

16. RADIO COMMUNICATION [DP][NP] Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats.

17. PRIZES Prizes will be given for first, second and third place in the series.

18. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. Neither Vallarta Yacht Club nor Paradise Village Resort and Marina will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

19. INSURANCE [DP][NP] Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance or the equivalent.
