Reviewing a school uniform is a considerable
decision for any school and its Board of Trustees to
make. It has been over 20 years since the Lincoln
High School uniform has been fully reviewed and
many changes to our branding and values have
happened during that time.
Phasing In
• All Year 9 students at LHS in 2017 will be required to wear the
new uniform as described in this brochure.
• Current students and Year 10 - 12 students starting at Lincoln
High School in 2017 can opt to wear the new uniform once all
Year 9s for 2017 have been catered for.
• There are only four items from the new uniform that can be
mixed with the 2016 uniform. These are
o Black socks with red stripe
o School scarf
o Raincoat
o Tie
• It is anticipated that by 2021 full transition to the new uniform
will be complete with students from Year 9 -13 in the new
uniform.
• Key terms – due to the versatility of the uniform items are not
gender specific. The two terms of Fitted and Tailored are used as
following:
Fitted: Smaller across shoulders and fitted through waistline
Tailored: Wider shoulders and less sculpting through midriff and
legs.
Fitted Uniform:
• Fitted Blazer
• Fitted long sleeve shirt
• Fitted short sleeve shirt
• Tie - junior or senior
• Wool blend vest
• Wool blend sweater
• Charcoal pinafore
• Charcoal skirt
• Fitted black casual shorts
• Plain black tights or plain black socks
• Black leather shoes
• Scarf
• Raincoat with optional hood
Tailored Uniform:
• Tailored Blazer
• Tailored long sleeve shirt
• Tailored short sleeve shirt
• Tie - junior or senior
• Wool blend vest
• Wool blend sweater
• Charcoal trousers
• Charcoal shorts
• Tailored black casual shorts
• Long/short school socks
• Black leather shoes
• Scarf
• Raincoat with optional hood
Compulsory Formal Uniform:
From 2017 students wearing the full new uniform will be required to wear the formal uniform for
assembly days, special occasions, school trips (where practical) and other key dates identified by the
school. Examples of these could include:
• First day of each term
• Ashburton sports exchange
• Awards ceremonies
• Full school assemblies.
The compulsory formal uniform consists of:
• Blazer
• Shirt
• Tie
• Trousers, shorts, skirt or pinafore
• Regulation socks/tights and footwear.
In addition, blazers are compulsory to and from school in Terms 2 and 3.
The Physical Education shirt is also compulsory for Year 9 and 10 students.
All other items are optional for purchasing.
Accessories:
- School caps/sunhats and beanies. If your student wishes to wear a hat, it must be the
regulation school hat or beanie)
- Physical Education shirts (Compulsory for Years 9 and 10)
All available for purchase from the Uniform Shop.
Shoes:
- All shoes must be full leather (no partial leather areas permitted)
- All shoes must be fully black (no different colours soles/branding/laces)
- Fitted Uniform: Black leather lace-up shoes with rounded toe, and heels no higher than
5 cm with no adornments OR Black leather low heeled shoes with one strap across the
top of the foot OR Black leather low heeled T bar shoes.
- Tailored Uniform: Black leather lace-up shoes with black laces, rounded toe, and with no
adornments OR Black leather slip on shoes with no adornments.

Uniform Shop:
The new LHS uniform will be sold through a uniform
shop onsite. This is located at the back of the hall.
Please use the North Belt entrance to school – there
is no need to sign in as a visitor when visiting the
uniform shop.
Facilities for payment will include:
- Cash
- Eftpos
- Visa/Mastercard
Shop Hours are as follows:
Tuesdays (during term time) 10.30am to 2pm
Thursdays (during term time) 1pm to 5pm
