The Reward of Diligence

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied”

(Proverbs 13:4, RSV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

God longs to pour out His favor and blessing on you. He has rewards, victory and promotion for you, but these

things don’t happen automatically. You have to do your part. You have to be diligent. First of all, you have to be dil-igent to seek His ways and follow His commands. Then you

also have to be diligent with what you have in your hand — your time, abilities and resources. In Matthew, Jesus

tells a parable about three men whose employer entrusted them with some money. Two of the men were diligent and invested the money and received a great return. The third man was afraid and buried what he was given. The first two men were rewarded and praised for their diligence

while the third man was basically fired.

Today, follow the example of the first two men and look for ways to be diligent with what you have in your hand.

Whatever you do, do it with excellence! Be the best you can be. Go the extra mile even when you think it goes unnoticed because God notices and promises to richly supply the soul

of the diligent!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your favor and blessing on my life. Today I choose to be diligent. I choose to live in

excellence and do everything to the best of my ability. I give You all the glory and thank You for Your faithfulness in

Jesus’ name. Amen.

Resurrection Power at Work

We have a reason to celebrate every day because we serve a God who is alive and filled with resurrection

power! Not only did He resurrect Jesus from the dead, but He wants to extend His resurrection power to

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father God, thank You for Your resurrection power at work in my life. Today, I give You my broken dreams, disappointments, failures and setbacks, trusting that You will breathe Your life into me. I trust that You

have a good plan for my future, and You are leading me into total victory in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Do you see God as a rewarder today? Notice this verse doesn’t say that God rewards those who “deserve” it or have “earned” it. It doesn’t say that God rewards those who act perfectly and never make mistakes. No, God’s blessing isn’t based on our performance, it’s based on our faith — our belief in Him and His goodness. In fact, one verse says that He longs to be good to those who are

looking for His goodness!

I encourage you today to spend some time meditating on His goodness and dwelling on His faithfulness. Look for Him and expect Him to act. Spend some time reading the Psalms and begin to praise and thank Him for all He is doing. Open your eyes of faith and see all of the wonderful things He has prepared for you. Let His Word shape your thoughts, and remember He is a rewarder! He wants to bless you today because you earnestly seek

after Him!

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Have you been praying and believing for something that seems like it’s taking a lot longer than you

anticipated? Many times, people can miss God’s best simply because they give up before they see their “due season” come. Don’t let that be you!

Be encouraged today; your answer is closer than you think! If it seems like things are getting more difficult, remember, when the intensity heats up,

that means you are closer to your victory. It always seems darkest just before the dawn arrives.

Remember, you serve a faithful God, and He’s working behind the scenes on your behalf. Don’t

cast away your confidence today because your reward is coming. Just like a new mother forgets

about her labor pain when she is finally holding her newborn, you’ll forget about your struggle when

you are holding on to your promise.

While you are waiting, keep an attitude of faith and expectancy. Wake up every morning and say out loud, “I’ve come too far to give up now. My

due season is coming. I will reap my harvest.” Stay in faith and look for His hand of blessing because He has promised you victory, and your reward is

coming!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, today I stand believing that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf. Give me Your strength to continue believing until I see Your promises fulfilled in my life in Jesus’ name.

GOOD NEWS!

Last week I shared a word that talked about Leah a woman in the Holy Bible from the Old Testament times, she needed a change in her life that could only be made possible by the goodness and power of God. Leah was the elder daughter of Laban, sister of Rachel and the first wife of Jacob. Laban was a son of Bethuel, and grand-nephew of Abraham. His sister Rebekah was married to Isaac, son of Abraham and Sarah. Jacob, son of Isaac and Rebekah married Laban’s daughters Leah and Rachel, and stayed with him for twenty years. I share this small piece of family tree information so we can see how in this genealogy it traces back to Abraham, a biblical patriarch. Abraham is Hebrew in origin and its meaning is father of a multitude, in this family line despite many hard faced challenges we discover good

news.

In the New Testament of the Holy Bible it reads the fol-lowing in Hebrews 11:1-4 “1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. 4 By faith Abel brought God a bet-ter offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.” It is all about God’s awesome power, in his goodness count-less of times he demonstrated his mercy to many as we read in the Holy Bible, and in our lives today it is by his mercy we are here. Focus with me on what you have read or heard about his written word, and experience

his good news.

We can learn and grow in our relationship with God through Jesus Christ as we read about the experiences that many of the biblical individuals went through, and the testimony it built as a result of God’s faithfulness towards all that placed their trust in him. It reads in the last part of the verse of Hebrews 11:4 ....”And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.” We are told what faith is in Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is confi-dence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Faith in God is the action the biblical patriarchs placed their trust in, even though some of the experiences made no sense from the human perspective. And yet we can read over and over again throughout the pages of the Holy Bible and see the power of God demonstrated in all that fully trusted in him, results that

produced his good news.

Leah was weary and needed a change and God saw her faith and enabled her womb to conceive, Able, his name means breath, vanity, he was the first martyr, he found favor in the eyes of God. Able’s action of faith ... “still speaks, even though he is dead.” One of my sons is taking college courses and he had a task to turn in that consisted of a series of questions that were asked to me. Here is one of the questions he addressed, “how did the change (faith in God) impact others around you such as your family?” My answer, “ God is faithful to his word.” People read us and hopefully they can read Jesus Christ in us as Lord, friends, family, one day physically our lives here and now will be no more. I have a question, Are you living a life that will continue to speak when you die? Through faith in Jesus Christ God will speak

forever his good news.
