ISA / IPEA Starts
Operations To expand its service and assistance to Filipino inventors, the IPOPHL begins operation as an International Searching Authority and International Preliminary Examining Authority (ISA/IPEA), enabling it to conduct search and preliminary examination of international applications filed under the PCT of the WIPO. UP Manila proved to be the first mover to take advantage of the service, officially filing the first request for an international search report (ISR) for their PCT invention application with funding and assistance from DOST-TAPI.

IPOPHL lauded six individuals and one business in the 2019 IP Convergence Forum, all of which have filed for intellectual property as they’ve made ground-breaking work in their fields.

Agreement
IPOPHL inked a Memorandum of
Agreement (MOA) with the
Philippine Dispute Resolution
Center to jointly develop and
promote the ADR referral system
for disputes involving
intellectual property. The MOA
will pave the way for speedy
disposal of cases and help
deliver timely justice to
litigants.
IPOPHL-CHED
Memorandum of
Agreement IPOPHL’s agreement with CHED centers on formulating an IP Policy.
For CHED, An IP Policy will facilitate the management of SUCs and HEIs’ intellectual property rights, as well as guide them on how to transfer that knowledge from the academe to the industry who may adopt it for commercialization. Additionally, under the MOA, IPOPHL and CHED will jointly undertake capacity-building programs specifically to gradually integrate intellectual property in relevant courses and fields of study.
IPOPHL-TESDA
Memorandum of
Agreement The MOA solidifies the commitment of IPOPHL and TESDA to lay the groundwork for IP consciousness in the technical education sector.
IPOPHL will provide capacity-building and training of TESDA Technical Institutes (TTIs) on drafting and adopting an IP Policy, teaching of IP and IP-related courses, conduct a training-of-trainers workshop in TESDA’s Centers of Excellence and Centers of Development, and other IP awareness and information programs. TESDA, on the other hand will undertake crafting of an IP Policy Template for the guidance of other TTIs and TVIs, and work towards integrating intellectual property modules in relevant courses identified by IPOPHL and TESDA.
