1ST PROJECT MEETING (TPM) VIBO VALENTIA, ITALY

“EVERYONE HAS A STORY: STORYTELLING FOR INCLUSION”

On Sunday 3rd December 2017 the first delegation from the partner school in Turkey arrived at Vibo Valentia-

Pizzo railway station late in the evening and was welcomed by General Project Coordinator, Ms Anna Pia Perri.

The Turkish Principal and the Responsible teacher were accommodated at the Risorgimento B&B in Vibo

Valentia within easy walking distance of the Liceo Capialbi.

On Monday 4th December 2017 the other delegations from partner schools in Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia arrived

at Lamezia Terme Airport and were welcomed by Project Coordinator, Ms Anna Pia Perri. Visiting teachers and

staff members were accommodated at the Miramonti Hotel and Risorgimento B&B in Vibo Valentia within easy

walking distance of the Liceo Capialbi. The evening saw the group visit some of the local area.

On Tuesday 5th December 2017 the delegations were welcomed to the Liceo Capialbi by the Principal, Mr

Antonello Salamandrè, in the Main Hall of the school. Before the music began, the Principal received gifts from

project coordinators in his office. The school orchestra, directed by music teacher, Mr Diego Ventura, played the

national anthems of all the participating nations. Visiting teachers and staff members were welcomed in a lively

musical atmosphere in which students from Liceo Musicale gave also a performance of guitar music while

students from Liceo Coreutico gave dancing performances dedicated both to the European guests and the audience

made up of students from Liceo Capialbi. Then, each delegation delivered the presentations they had prepared

concerning schools, regions, towns, systems of education in their countries as foreseen by the project. Soon after,

the delegations had lunch together as an occasion to exchange views and get to know one another better. In the

afternoon the delegations visited the town centre of Vibo Valentia.

On Wednesday 6th December 2017 the group visited the LIMEN Art Museum. The delegations were welcomed by

Mr Caruso Frezza who explained the mission and the vision of Chamber of Commerce in Vibo Valentia and their

particularly involved. The group was given "Limen" magazine, the "threshold" which invites everyone to enter the

fascinating world of art.

In the afternoon, at 16,30 a teachers’ meeting, chaired by general project coordinator, Ms Anna Pia Perri, was

held to discuss the state of the art of the project. The first TPM was held from 3rd to 8th December rather than in

November, as foreseen by the project, because the date in December was more suitable for each partner schools

depending on financial reasons.

At the beginning of the meeting the Italian Coordinator told the Partners that the Italian team created a website

whose address is www.erasmus-storytelling.eu

The website will be the place where to collect the photos of the project meetings and the Partners’ videos, ppts and

dissemination products. A blog was also created in the website to gather impressions and comments about the

experience.

As for the development of the project each school has already :

1) signed the agreement with its own National Agency;

2) disseminated the project in the school;

3) disseminated its main theme and objectives in the school;

4) communicated with the school coordinators on the Internet and whatsApp group;

5) created an Erasmus+ corner;

6) chosen the participating students (aged 13-16 );

7) chosen the project team;

8) organised meeting for students and parents.

The Romanian team created a facebook page and the Slovenian and the Italian partners gave their contribution

for the project logo.

Moreover, the teachers met together in order to talk about the aims, development and plans for the following

meetings. As for the next mobility the general project coordinator gave available dates better for April due to many

reasons such as the impossibility for the Italian teachers to be absent from school during March because of end

term and Easter Holidays and in February because of general bad weather conditions since in the past it caused

the impossibility to take part in a Comenius meeting because of weather alert by Farnesina, the Italian Ministry

of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Because of this the school adopted the resolution of avoiding

Erasmus+ trips during winter. Moreover families do not let their children go on school trips in the middle of

winter, because of snow and flu and dangerous flights so it would be quite impossible to find students to take part

in. After a long and difficult discussion about many different possibilities, because of school activities already

planned in the various schools, the responsible teachers of all partner schools agreed that the mobility for the first

LTTA meeting is going to be held in Bulgaria from 15th to 21st April 2018 and the second LTTA project meeting is

going to be held in Romania from 3rd to 9th June 2018. During the meeting the project logo was chosen. It is

represented by three different drawings put together.

When the meeting finished the Partners were taken to the seaside resort of Pizzo Calabro where they were given a

tour of the small town, the sea front, the view of port of Vibo Marina, the landscape with Stromboli volcano in

Sicily, the Murat Castle and the main square.

The first half of Thursday morning, 7th December 2017 was dedicated to learning something else of the culture and

history of the city of Vibo Valentia. Visiting delegations were taken on a guided tour of the city and in particular

to the Norman castle which houses the archaeological museum.

Liceo Capialbi students, engaged on the national work experience programme, acted as English language guides.

The Archeological Museum of Vibo Valentia was founded in 1969 by Vito Capialbi, a researcher and archeologist

from Vibo who, during his lifetime in the 19th century, collected a vast number of antiques in his home. The

historical walk started on the second floor with the prehistorical objects; on the ground floor the group saw

exhibitions of Greek and Roman findings.

In the afternoon a second teachers’meeting was held to discuss the state of the art of the project. During the

meeting the website was showed in each detail. In particular the website technician, Mr Emanuele Di Iorgi,

explained the Partners how the portal works, particularly relating to uploading products. During the teachers’

meeting the Partners had the occasion to analyze the objectives as foreseen by the project. The Italian Coordinator

will do the minutes of the whole TPM and prepare an action plan with monitoring frequency and evaluation

responsibilities of each partner for the first year of the project distributing tasks related to each partner's duties.

She will also prepare a project dissemination plan to share with the Partners, the evaluation questionnaire of the

mobility in Italy and the Initial Questionnaire for students. As for establishing a common methodology for the

exchanges, generally speaking the Partners agreed with the proposal of involving families to host students even

considering the possibility to look for a hostel or B&B in case of difficulties. The expenses will be supported by

each project team within the frame of the grant received for short-term exchanges of groups of pupils and

accompanying people. The same grant will cover the cost of means of transport or museum and exhibition

entrances for cultural visits. It was clear from the meeting that the Romanian and Slovenian teams will spend

80% of the grants while the other schools 100%. Due to financial problems the programme of the PTM in Italy

could not include other excursions.

During the break the participating delegations had the occasion to taste traditional cakes from the different

countries. At the end of the second teachers’ meeting the certificates of participation and list of participants were

handed out. In the evening the group enjoyed the Project Dinner at “Terravecchia” Pizzeria. The delegations left

Vibo Valentia on Friday 8th December 2017.

Before leaving the Turkish team was taken by Project Coordinator to Vibo Marina.
