The Division CommE.ITld'Post was protected by eight outposts, five of i'rhich 1:ere manned by members of the machine gun section of the Division Gu,::~..rd, and three by personnel of the 1st SigneJ. Battalion. These outponts form the perimeter of the Command Post. The Headquar­ters Comma.ndant Section cut brush and weeds within the Division Command Post, continued to level ground in the Oo~manding General's area for construction of a volley ball court, and cleQ!led drainage ditches vii thin the Division Comm(;lnd Post. The Post Office reported that one bog of Registere.d Mail, one bag of First Olass Mail, and ten (10) b~s of Parcel Post were received at 1600I and distributed at 1735!. The Headquarters Battalion Motor Transport Section re­ported that the estimated amount of cargo hauled during the day was thirty-eit;}1t {38) ton. Road conditions were reported to have been fair throtl€hout the day. Headquarters Battalion Memorandum Number 69-52 and Change No. 2 to Headquarters Battalion Memor~l.Ildum Number 25-52 were received this date. See appendices II {h) and II {1).

Reconnaissance Company reported that the lst, 2nd ond 3rd pla­toons on line continued to man a sector of the ML.R. At 1815I, two rounds of 82mm enemy mortar fire fell in the company sector o.t {BS958885). At 1910I, three enemy were observed at ( BS945888). Artillery fire vvas c&led on these enemy and in doing so, at 1930!, neven to eleven more :memy were flushed out from their positions. Then .50 caliber machine gun fire was concentrated on them. The amount of enemy ce.sucl. ties was unknown. All security patrols Cllld the company security outposts reported negative enemy contact dur­ing the period.

1. Personnel departing this organization with the lflth Rotation

Draft will depart from the Division Chapel Area at a time and date

to be announced.

2. Second Lieutenal\t Walter. N. MORRISON 153007/0302, USMCR, is

hereby designated as the O!fieer in Char1e of the battalion draft.

Starr Sergeant Edwin E. MILLER 265145/0316, USMC, is deeisnated ae

NCO in Charge of Head~uarters Company personnel. Staff Sergeant

Andy B. BASICH 867466/5811, USMC, is designated as NCO in Charge ot

Military Police Company personnel. Sergeant Milton L. COOK 646477/

_2531, USMC, is designated as NCO in Charge of Reconnaissance Company

personnel.

3, All personnel of this battalien returning on th!! draft will

repOrt to the Chapel Area for muster at a time and date to be

announced. The Officer in Charge will be furnished a ro!ter o! the

draft, and will report results of the muster to this Headquarters ...

4. The following will govern clearance procedure, Prior to 29 June

1952, all personnel departing with the 18th Rotation Draft wills

a. Obtain clearance slips from company tc which assigned and

clear out with company as required.

'b, Clear out with Division Post Office; !urnishin& the Post

Office a civilian forwarding addrus for the purpose of forwarding

mail. Notify correspondents and publishers of such change and

reque at them to discontinue the use or tlli ..... erseae address.

c. Clear out with the Battalion Supply Otfi'cer. Turn in all

government property except the following items which will accompany

the individual upon departure from the CP Are&J Regular issue

clothing, Field Jacket, Pack, Mess gear, leggings, aleeping bag

and/or blankets, M-1 Rifle and cartridge belt.

d. Personnel who possess war trophies and desire to retaia the~

will report to their respective comp&nf cammanders for completion ol

a War Trophy Certificate (in duplicate).. All personnel are remi.ndliiA

that no firearms manufactured in Russia or China mar be retained as

souvenirs. Sueh firearms will be turned in tc the Battalio_n Supply

Oftic er. Autherized souvenir weapons will be turned in to Comp<BJlJ"

Commanders prior to 28 June 1952, for delivery to the Ott~er in

5. The Battalion Supply Officer will be furniehed a copy of the rotation draft roster, fer !'lis use in sorting personal weapons belonging to members of the draft. The Supply Of fie er will deliver p~rsonal weapons to the Officer in Charg~ of the battalion draft, .h o in turn, will receipt for same and deiiv er them to the Officer in Charge of the 18th Rot at ion Draft at ASCOM CITY upon arrival thereat in accordance with paragraph 6e of reference (a).
