ABOUT KIIT SCHOOL OF LAW
KIIT School of Law was established by KIIT University in 2007 to
meet the growing demand for legal professionals in the wake of
globalization and rapid expansion of India’s economy. Academic
programmes of the School are recognized and approved by the Bar
Council of India (BCI), the apex body regulating the legal education
in India, and UGC. At present, KSOL is the only law school in India
having specialized honors courses in Business Law, Constitutional
Law, International Law, Crime & Criminology, Intellectual Property
Law, Taxation Law and Human Rights Law.
Legal education is multidimensional-it requires not only
procedural skills but also a deep understandings in various
epistemologies. For this reason, double degree integrated courses
like Law and Management or Law and Social Sciences or Law and
Natural Sciences are becoming popular and assuming much
importance in the corporate world. Legal studies are now mixed
with management or scientific analytical skills to advance the
rational judicial system. The curricula of KSOL has evolved upon
these paradigms. As an institution of excellence, scholarship and
rigor, KSOL is dedicated to nurturing students into leaders
inculcating in them the intellectual and ethical values that will mold
them into socially responsible professional proficient in the
dynamic domain of law.
KIIT SOCIETY OF LAW AND TECHNOLOGY Around 4000 BC our ancestors gave us the 1st basic definition of
technology which was the invention of tools and techniques to
insulate our battered life from hardship as far as possible. In 19th
century the definition of law by Savigny stated that the law is the rule
whereby an invisible borderline is fixed within which the being and
the activity of each individual obtains a secure and free space. Now as
we stand on the cusp of the 21st century and combine the above two
definitions together with the present technologically advanced
society, we have to draw an invisible borderline to ensure
technological growth and advancement while at the same time have
the activity of technology secured and a strict check upon the
technological misuse which includes nuclear energy misuse, cyber-
crimes and many more, which number among the greatest threats
affecting individuals and property in every country of the world. KIIT
Society of Law and Technology was formulated to assess these
upcoming emerging law fields, and help the students to understand
the crux of law and technology combined.

About the Conference
“I tell the world, ‘Make in India’. Sell anywhere but manufacture here. We
have the skill and talent for it,” said Narendra Modi during his maiden
speech as PM on August 15th, 2014.
Make in India launched on 25th September 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra
Modi is an initiative of the Government of India to encourage multinational
and domestic companies to manufacture their products in India. The Make
in India program contains major new initiatives which have been specially
designed to aid investment, protect intellectual property, foster innovation,
and build best-in-class manufacturing infrastructure and also to focus on job
creation and skill enhancement in twenty five sectors of the economy. This
initiative of the government hopes to increase GDP growth and tax revenue
and also to attract capital and technological investment in India. Make in
India is PM Narendra Modi’s ambitious plan to make India a manufacturing
superpower.
India, the second most populous country in the world have around 1.252
billion people as our human resource, yet the country’s Gross Domestic
Product (GDP) is 7th as per the current prices and in terms of Human
Development Index (HDI) the nation’s rank is 135th all over the world.
Working under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of
India, the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion which was
established in the year 1995 was merged with the Department of Industrial
Development in 2000. This department is responsible for formulation and
implementation of promotional and developmental measures for growth of
the industrial sector and also for intellectual property rights relating to
patents, design, trademarks etc.
Today in the twenty first century law and technology are intertwined
in certain areas. Merging of technology and law raises interesting
techno-legal issues that are not easy to handle and often raises
conflict. ‘Make in India’ aims to increase intellectual inventions in the
nation and their sale outside. These inventions should be protected
by a ‘shroud of law’ and fair practices should be employed. This
conference to be held aims to make people critically analyze the
‘Make in India’ policy from a techno-legal perspective, to recognize
the efficiency of the policy, appreciate the merits and find out ways to
overcome the shortcomings.
Reading makes a full man, conference a
ready man, and writing an exact man.
