WELCOME TO THE 2ND PIPE AND SEWER CONFERENCE

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION ON PIPE AND SEWER TECHNOLOGIES

Poorly constructed and uneconomically operated,

leaking urban pipe and sewer networks are major cost

drivers and damage the environment.

In many places around the world water losses are ex-

tremely high and damaged sewers pollute the ground

water. Losses in the district heating and cooling net-

works are also a waste of financial resources and gas

leakages could even lead to serious and fatal accidents.

Many cities suffer from their crumbling and poorly maintained pipe and sewer infrastruc-

ture. The wasted taxpayer’s money could be spent much better in social projects, the

educational system and on the labor market.

In Central Europe (e.g. Germany) water and waste water losses are in the single-digit

percentage area and gas losses are close to zero. This has not always been the case: inten-

sive research and the continuous exchange of experience between universities, industry,

municipalities and the private operators played a large part in this development.

The EITEP Institute set up the international Pipe and Sewer Conference (PASC) and exhibi-

tion in order to further this exchange of experience on an international level. We put this

new event into the same time frame as the established Pipeline Technology Conference

(ptc) in order to benefit from manifold synergies on the side of our exhibitors and network

operators.

The umbrella of both events will be the “Pipeline-Pipe-Sewer-Technology Conference &

Exhibition” (PPST).

SPEAKING OPPORTUNITIES

Interested speakers are invited to submit an

abstract (max. 300 words) describing the main

ideas of their paper together with the pre-

senter’s CV (max. 200 words). Abstracts should

not focus on company presentation but on

technical/managerial classifications, R&D,

new technologies or recent case studies. Joint

presentations between network operators

and technology providers are welcome. All

abstracts will be reviewed in the ptc Advisory

Committee.

All speakers are requested to register as

normal delegate (confirmed speakers from

network operators attend free-of-charge).

Each speaker gets a presentation time of

20 minutes. The presented papers will be

published in the conference proceedings and

distributed to the conference attendees. All

abstracts and papers will also be published in

the online abstract/paper database. Techni-

cal papers of authors who do not attend the

conference to present their papers may not

be included in the online database and future

conferences.
