Book Store/ Residence Fall 2008
Objective: To design a bookstore with a
residence attached for the owners of bookstore across from the Menil Art Museum.
Program: The design had to include a
conference room, 450 lineal ft of shelves, an additional 40 lineal ft of shelves for rare book, storage/ receiving space, an office, mechanical and electrical equipment room, and a residential space. As an addition from the client, we were asked to incorporate and display their collection of Jesus Moroles sculptures to the design.
Community Meeting/ Gathering Center Spring 2009
Objective: To design a space for the
community to gather and use the space for many different purposes.
Program: The program was to design a
gathering space with an out door pavilion and two other smaller spaces that can be rented by the community. Also added to the design was a garden area for the public to come on their lunch break to gather and relax in the middle of the day.

Shipping Container Housing December 2008
Objective: The design challenge was to create
sustainable housing units because enrollment has drastically increased. Therefore, with a group of student, we designed student housing in high-rise form with habitable spaces made from shipping containers.
Program: Every Floor is a mirror of the floor
beneath it to create an aesthetic appeal as well as providing shading for the floors below. The core offers a central means of circulation. Fire stairs are a secondary and quick method of accessing other floors as well as being used for emergency cases. The only enclosed spaces are the shipping containers while the circulation surrounding the core is an exterior setting.
Life-Guard Station Spring 2009
Objective: To design a lifeguard station on the
Pacific coast at Del Mar Beach California.
Program: The station is located on a public
access zone; therefore, I created a space that the public and private was separate but coexisted on the site. The requirements for the project were: a viewing station with unobstructed view, a station for two life guards on duty and one on reserve, private and public restrooms, parking for an ATV with trailer, and storage at beach level for life saving equipment.

Space for a Visiting Critic Spring 2008
Objective: To design a space for a critic to stay
while coming to visit the architecture building and critic student work.
Program: The space is located between the art
and architecture building. The concept for this project was to have different elements within the design to connect and relate to each other. For example, the hand rail becomes the desk that become a shelf that turns into the counter top then connect with a stair thread and continues upstairs.

In-Door Out-Door Spring 2008
Objective: To design a space for a type of art
form to be experienced. Also, while one is in this space, they experience both the in and out door environment simultaneously.
Program: The site is in between three buildings
that can be accessed from the street. The art form I choose to be experienced was Japanese cuisine.
Building Analysis Fall 2007
Objective: Develop the ability to conceptualize
and communicate the essential features of an architectural design, and to communicate a design in plan and section. In this project, we start with the finished building, a product, and work backwards to discover its concept. Following this procedure, we learn that design is neither entirely willful nor mysterious; with diligent probing, a design can be made to reveal its logic and consistencies.
Program: Gather data, build a model, and
produce plans, sections, and elevations in ink on vellum of the Agosta House by Patkau Architects.
