It is a new chapter for Bently Nevada and for ORBIT magazine. InJanuary 2002, Bently Nevada was acquired by GE Power Systems. We'vebeen very busy ever since integrating our relatively small family intothe much larger GE family. Rest assured, the ORBIT will continue asa quarterly publication and wont change its focus on practical solu-tions and advice for managing the equipment assets in your plant.

In this issue, our new business leader, Brian Palmer, is center stage toanswer questions about what our new ownership means to BentlyNevada and you, our customers, in an informative interview beginningon page 34.

The last year has brought changes for me as well. As the new editor ofORBIT, Im expanding my role from technical editor, a role Ive heldfor several years, to now include all aspects of the magazine. Ill striveto keep the technical content understandable and readable somethingwe can all learn and benefit from. Youll find that our bus iness isexpanding to help you manage more than just your rotating machineassets, as well as expanding into new industries. Youll see thatreflected in a broader range of feature articles and continuing depart-ments. You will also see a clearer definition of what the benefits ofBently products and services are to your understanding of your machinery, its place within your process, and your bottom line. The sort of thingsyou can take to the bank, whether of knowledge, application, or savings.

This issue continues many of the departments youve become familiarwi th : Case Histor ie s, Best Prac ti ce s, Synops is of Savings, NewProduct Showcase, and Calendar of Events. As the year progresses, youll see stories and new departments that reflect the broader indus-tries that we believe our products can serve. I hope youll also be ableto see the benefits to your own circumstances regardless of what industrythe stories are about.
