Boy Corvair Club meetings can be hazardous to your health Coming out of the meeting Beverly didnt see the wheelchair ramp and fell head long ploughing up some asphalt with her eye nose and knuckles I was just coming out of the building and heard the crash from around the corner as her glasses disintegrated on impact No broken bones though and with help from the members I hauled her off to the emergency room where they cleaned up her wounds and stitched her eye Beverly says to thank all the members who assisted at the time and who called up to see how she was faring in the days following So thanks folks I middotthink were a great group
Well were off to Palm Springs to the annual Inland Empire Corvair Club Fan Belt Toss and Swap Meet My rear end is low due to all the tools in my trunk in case I have to overhaul my BU1CK on the road I should drive a Corvair At last count Cecil and Esther Alex Vic and Engrid Howard Ed and Carol Sanford the Pershings Bruce and Don Robinson and us are all heading out Friday morning the 10th of November Well gi v e you a report at the November meeting
The state legislature has raised the minimum vehicle license tax from $10 to $30 This means that the tax on mahy older cars wlll be tripled-when they are registered An initiative petition was offered ror signature at the October meeting which would repeal this unfair tax I believe everyone there signed If you would like to signor if you would llke to circulate this pe~ition I will have the petitions for you at the November meeting If you remember such an lnitiati v e got the 5 vehicle transfer tax on prl vate transactions repealed some years ago
Van be sure to publish the Christmas Party order form in the November issue and e veryone else get it filled out and off to Vic Howard before the deadline A great affalr is shaping up Each person please brlng a same sex gift

Association was called to order at 745 pm b y President Dave Baker on October 25 1989 at the Picadill y Cafeteria 6767 E Broadway Tucson Arizona

This years Great Western Fan Belt Toss and Swap Meet held in Palm Springs the weekend of November 12th was great as usual This year there were all kinds of TCA people there Besides Vicki and I we saw Ed and Carole Sanford Cecil and Ester Alex and Vic Howard We heard that Dav e Baker was going to be there but as of noon Saturday nobod y had seen him I suspect that he and Beverly headed straight for Ne vada and didnt bother with th~ Cor v airs - or perhaps they spent the weekend in Bl y the overhauling the Buick
There were alot more people there than in past y ears I didnt hear the exact count but Angel Statium was packed There were no less than 27 Ultra Vans plus several other brand X motor homes and travel trailers
There were plently o f parts to buy Ed was spending money faster than Carole could get it out of her purse when we left them I myself bought a trailer hitch and enough parts to get started on putting air conditioning in the Greenbrier as well as several other little ods and ends 1 couldnt live without
We Vicki and I left Tucson about 100 pm Friday afternoon in the Greenbrier and arrived in Palm Springs about 800pm PST after a bout with the odomete r in Yuma which took ab o ut 20 minutes off our schedule
We have found a nice little Chinese restaurant and we have eaten at the past two time weve been and throughly enjo yed another evening to g eth e r We s l e pt i n Saturda y mornillg and then had a v~r y enjo y able time a t t tl E swap meet sllappi n g pictures and buying good thing s One thing I almos t bought was a generator rebuild kit from Walls Cor v air Underground fo r about 6 bucks The kit includes bearings and b rushes plus some other little stuff 1 decided not to buy it because 1 reminded myself that the generator on the Greenbrier would soon be replaced by an alternator when the air conditioning i s installed At about 200 pm we climbed the the Greenbrier and headed home
The trip home was equall y as fun With the cruise control set on 70 mph we c r uised across th e great Moha v e desert without a ere in the world - until the generator light came on That causes onl y a couple of minutes delay because gene r ally it means we v e lost a fan belt We pulled off at the Tonopah e~it and into the mini-mart for some light a nd refreshments while we examined the problem 1 popped open the engine co v er and my $179 Pep Boy s fabelt was just fine 1 hate it when that happens Our couple minute delay turned into a 30 minute dela y - the ( you guessed it) brushes in the generat o r were worn to a mere shadow of their former self Oh how 1 wished I had follow my urge to bu y the kit But as luck would hav e it 1 found one old brush on the back of the Bier (I never throw a n ything away) and we were back in business If we had been in one of our newer cars we would still be there Im sure

This years Great Western Fan Belt Toss and Swap Meet held in Palm Springs the weekend of November 12th was great as usual This year there were all kinds of TCA people there Besides Vicki and I we saw Ed and Carole Sanford Cecil and Ester Alex and Vic Howard We heard that Dav e Baker was going to be there but as of noon Saturday nobod y had seen him I suspect that he and Beverly headed straight for Ne vada and didnt bother with th~ Cor v airs - or perhaps they spent the weekend in Bl y the overhauling the Buick
There were alot more people there than in past y ears I didnt hear the exact count but Angel Statium was packed There were no less than 27 Ultra Vans plus several other brand X motor homes and travel trailers
There were plently o f parts to buy Ed was spending money faster than Carole could get it out of her purse when we left them I myself bought a trailer hitch and enough parts to get started on putting air conditioning in the Greenbrier as well as several other little ods and ends 1 couldnt live without
We Vicki and I left Tucson about 100 pm Friday afternoon in the Greenbrier and arrived in Palm Springs about 800pm PST after a bout with the odomete r in Yuma which took ab o ut 20 minutes off our schedule
We have found a nice little Chinese restaurant and we have eaten at the past two time weve been and throughly enjo yed another evening to g eth e r We s l e pt i n Saturda y mornillg and then had a v~r y enjo y able time a t t tl E swap meet sllappi n g pictures and buying good thing s One thing I almos t bought was a generator rebuild kit from Walls Cor v air Underground fo r about 6 bucks The kit includes bearings and b rushes plus some other little stuff 1 decided not to buy it because 1 reminded myself that the generator on the Greenbrier would soon be replaced by an alternator when the air conditioning i s installed At about 200 pm we climbed the the Greenbrier and headed home
The trip home was equall y as fun With the cruise control set on 70 mph we c r uised across th e great Moha v e desert without a ere in the world - until the generator light came on That causes onl y a couple of minutes delay because gene r ally it means we v e lost a fan belt We pulled off at the Tonopah e~it and into the mini-mart for some light a nd refreshments while we examined the problem 1 popped open the engine co v er and my $179 Pep Boy s fabelt was just fine 1 hate it when that happens Our couple minute delay turned into a 30 minute dela y - the ( you guessed it) brushes in the generat o r were worn to a mere shadow of their former self Oh how 1 wished I had follow my urge to bu y the kit But as luck would hav e it 1 found one old brush on the back of the Bier (I never throw a n ything away) and we were back in business If we had been in one of our newer cars we would still be there Im sure

Boy Corvair Club meetings can be hazardous to your health Coming out of the meeting Beverly didnt see the wheelchair ramp and fell head long ploughing up some asphalt with her eye nose and knuckles I was just coming out of the building and heard the crash from around the corner as her glasses disintegrated on impact No broken bones though and with help from the members I hauled her off to the emergency room where they cleaned up her wounds and stitched her eye Beverly says to thank all the members who assisted at the time and who called up to see how she was faring in the days following So thanks folks I middotthink were a great group
Well were off to Palm Springs to the annual Inland Empire Corvair Club Fan Belt Toss and Swap Meet My rear end is low due to all the tools in my trunk in case I have to overhaul my BU1CK on the road I should drive a Corvair At last count Cecil and Esther Alex Vic and Engrid Howard Ed and Carol Sanford the Pershings Bruce and Don Robinson and us are all heading out Friday morning the 10th of November Well gi v e you a report at the November meeting
The state legislature has raised the minimum vehicle license tax from $10 to $30 This means that the tax on mahy older cars wlll be tripled-when they are registered An initiative petition was offered ror signature at the October meeting which would repeal this unfair tax I believe everyone there signed If you would like to signor if you would llke to circulate this pe~ition I will have the petitions for you at the November meeting If you remember such an lnitiati v e got the 5 vehicle transfer tax on prl vate transactions repealed some years ago
Van be sure to publish the Christmas Party order form in the November issue and e veryone else get it filled out and off to Vic Howard before the deadline A great affalr is shaping up Each person please brlng a same sex gift

This years Great Western Fan Belt Toss and Swap Meet held in Palm Springs the weekend of November 12th was great as usual This year there were all kinds of TCA people there Besides Vicki and I we saw Ed and Carole Sanford Cecil and Ester Alex and Vic Howard We heard that Dav e Baker was going to be there but as of noon Saturday nobod y had seen him I suspect that he and Beverly headed straight for Ne vada and didnt bother with th~ Cor v airs - or perhaps they spent the weekend in Bl y the overhauling the Buick
There were alot more people there than in past y ears I didnt hear the exact count but Angel Statium was packed There were no less than 27 Ultra Vans plus several other brand X motor homes and travel trailers
There were plently o f parts to buy Ed was spending money faster than Carole could get it out of her purse when we left them I myself bought a trailer hitch and enough parts to get started on putting air conditioning in the Greenbrier as well as several other little ods and ends 1 couldnt live without
We Vicki and I left Tucson about 100 pm Friday afternoon in the Greenbrier and arrived in Palm Springs about 800pm PST after a bout with the odomete r in Yuma which took ab o ut 20 minutes off our schedule
We have found a nice little Chinese restaurant and we have eaten at the past two time weve been and throughly enjo yed another evening to g eth e r We s l e pt i n Saturda y mornillg and then had a v~r y enjo y able time a t t tl E swap meet sllappi n g pictures and buying good thing s One thing I almos t bought was a generator rebuild kit from Walls Cor v air Underground fo r about 6 bucks The kit includes bearings and b rushes plus some other little stuff 1 decided not to buy it because 1 reminded myself that the generator on the Greenbrier would soon be replaced by an alternator when the air conditioning i s installed At about 200 pm we climbed the the Greenbrier and headed home
The trip home was equall y as fun With the cruise control set on 70 mph we c r uised across th e great Moha v e desert without a ere in the world - until the generator light came on That causes onl y a couple of minutes delay because gene r ally it means we v e lost a fan belt We pulled off at the Tonopah e~it and into the mini-mart for some light a nd refreshments while we examined the problem 1 popped open the engine co v er and my $179 Pep Boy s fabelt was just fine 1 hate it when that happens Our couple minute delay turned into a 30 minute dela y - the ( you guessed it) brushes in the generat o r were worn to a mere shadow of their former self Oh how 1 wished I had follow my urge to bu y the kit But as luck would hav e it 1 found one old brush on the back of the Bier (I never throw a n ything away) and we were back in business If we had been in one of our newer cars we would still be there Im sure

This years Great Western Fan Belt Toss and Swap Meet held in Palm Springs the weekend of November 12th was great as usual This year there were all kinds of TCA people there Besides Vicki and I we saw Ed and Carole Sanford Cecil and Ester Alex and Vic Howard We heard that Dav e Baker was going to be there but as of noon Saturday nobod y had seen him I suspect that he and Beverly headed straight for Ne vada and didnt bother with th~ Cor v airs - or perhaps they spent the weekend in Bl y the overhauling the Buick
There were alot more people there than in past y ears I didnt hear the exact count but Angel Statium was packed There were no less than 27 Ultra Vans plus several other brand X motor homes and travel trailers
There were plently o f parts to buy Ed was spending money faster than Carole could get it out of her purse when we left them I myself bought a trailer hitch and enough parts to get started on putting air conditioning in the Greenbrier as well as several other little ods and ends 1 couldnt live without
We Vicki and I left Tucson about 100 pm Friday afternoon in the Greenbrier and arrived in Palm Springs about 800pm PST after a bout with the odomete r in Yuma which took ab o ut 20 minutes off our schedule
We have found a nice little Chinese restaurant and we have eaten at the past two time weve been and throughly enjo yed another evening to g eth e r We s l e pt i n Saturda y mornillg and then had a v~r y enjo y able time a t t tl E swap meet sllappi n g pictures and buying good thing s One thing I almos t bought was a generator rebuild kit from Walls Cor v air Underground fo r about 6 bucks The kit includes bearings and b rushes plus some other little stuff 1 decided not to buy it because 1 reminded myself that the generator on the Greenbrier would soon be replaced by an alternator when the air conditioning i s installed At about 200 pm we climbed the the Greenbrier and headed home
The trip home was equall y as fun With the cruise control set on 70 mph we c r uised across th e great Moha v e desert without a ere in the world - until the generator light came on That causes onl y a couple of minutes delay because gene r ally it means we v e lost a fan belt We pulled off at the Tonopah e~it and into the mini-mart for some light a nd refreshments while we examined the problem 1 popped open the engine co v er and my $179 Pep Boy s fabelt was just fine 1 hate it when that happens Our couple minute delay turned into a 30 minute dela y - the ( you guessed it) brushes in the generat o r were worn to a mere shadow of their former self Oh how 1 wished I had follow my urge to bu y the kit But as luck would hav e it 1 found one old brush on the back of the Bier (I never throw a n ything away) and we were back in business If we had been in one of our newer cars we would still be there Im sure
