As there arc many international business events taking place during August .andSeptember The lSA's Solar Investors Delegation to Africa has been postponed and thelast date of receipt ofEOJ has been extended upto 15lh September, 2018.

Interested companies can send their applications before 15th Septemben-ZlIl S.

Concept Note on 15A.folar Investors Delegations (ISA-SIDs)

Brief background:

Article 1l.2 Guiding Principles. stales that rSA Members cooperate closely and strivefor establishing mutually beneficial relationship with relevant organisations. public& private stakeholders and with non-member countries.

International Solar Alliance, presently having 6) countries as signatories and 37ountries that have ratified its Framework Agreement, has launched four

. rogramrnes namely Scaling Solar Applications for Agricultural Use. AffordableFinan~e at Scale, Scaling Solar Mini Grids and Scaling Solar Rooftop. rSA is alsoworking towards launching two other programmes in near future namely "Scalingup Solar E-Mobility and Storage" and "Scaling Solar Parks/Utility Scale SolarProjects, "

in accordance with tl'~ Article 2,2 of the Framework Agreement, ISA has also beenparticipating in conferences, exh ibii ions-and seminars such as 52nd meeting of theBoard of Governors of African Development Bank during 22nd _2611> May, 2017 atGandhinagar, Gujarat; [SA Forum at World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2018,Abu Dhabi and TSA Pavilion at ELECRAMA 2018, World Environment Day ofUK'EP & Gol in.Delhi. in June 2018, [SA Pavilion in Lnrersp.t<).[Munich (Germany),among others' for sharing ISA objectives 8: and creating awareness about ISAProgrammes,

ISA has been organizing monthly get-roger ..hers i.e. SUN MEETS and networkingon every third Wednesday of the month with Embassies and High Commissions ofvarious ountries in lndia to sensitize the distinguished participants about latestdevelopments in the solar-related fields, best industry practices and innovativebusiness models that could be deployed in I A member countries ..These initiativesand efforts have resulted in generating lot or interest among rSA member countries

lSA has also organized three Action to Transaction Meets and has advised NationalFocal points (NFPs) to do the same in their respective countries, ISA plans toorganize lSA Solar Expos in Kenya. Peru & Indonesia in future. Further, through aCommon Expression of Interest, rSA has mobilized 227 potential projects and plansto launch the 2nd Common Expression Interest in near future.

As a sequel to the above initiatives. [0 maintain momentum and to convert thesebusiness initial! es into commercial transactions thus resulting into development ofsolar projects on ground. it would be essential to have a structured bankableprogrammes/schemes to facilitate meetings ofPolicy makers and Investors either bysending Investors Delegations to various ISA member countries or by bringing themogethcr in suitable venues.

Objectives of the scheme:

• To bring policy makers, Investors, Banks & Industries together.

• To speed up invcsnncnrs in solar projects ofTSA Member countries,

• To attract the investors who are interested in exploring investment

• opportunities in ISA Member countries.

• To explore potential commercial activities in the solar space, 000 understandpolicies. incentives and tariff structure of the countres. They will alsopromote establishing SOj:'H parks mini-grids and solar rooftop systems etc.through Power PurchasingAgreement (PPA) under (APEX IOPEX models.

~• To enable member countries avoid taking loans & attract private capital.

• To give an option to ISA Member Countries that PPA mode], donetransparently, is a.good alternative Opti011 to (' APEX based projects.

• To encourage its Members to avoid taking sovereign loans whenever

investments from corporate sector can be brought in via an appropriate

ecosystem of minimized risks.-... -.- ..-' - -.--• To maximize investment in Solar energy projects in its member countries

• To playa coordinating role in bringing together potential large investors,

policymakers and financiers in order to shorten the time taken from project

,commissioning.

• .To focus ISA's efforts on the member countries who have ratified, and within

tnose, particularly focus on the African member countries i.l order to deliver

a value proposition to them for having made their national efforts to support

Projects to be covered: All acuvrues and projects covered under ISA'sProgramme launched and related activities.

Composition: To begin with the visit would be restricted to l\ Irican countrieswho have signed or rati Iied the Framework Agreement. Selection or companies willb ba: ed on response [0 Eol i a notification on IS'!, website, letter to NFPs andContact Points. The size of the delegation will be limited LO 15 cornpanies/corporateswho express interest and respond to ad .ertisement in lS;.\ web page, on first comefirst serve basis and relevance to ISA Programmes.

]SA will also take help of Contact Points of member countries, based in New Delhi,

to coordinate with the I FPs. Department of Energy, Industry ana Finance, of Ihemember countries in order to make the lSA investors Delegation's visits meaningful.

Cost: lSA will beas the travel cost of officers from ISA and Contact Points (not

more than one from each Raufied/Signatory [SA Member Countries) who would be

willing to volunteer to help in coordinating (he activities of the ISA Investors

Delegations in tarzct countries. Cost 0 f other members will be met by theirC <

respective organizations.
