If you are reading nonfiction… FInd a part that has a text structure (compare/contrast, cause/effect, sequence, problem/solution). What is the text structure? How can you tell? Why do you think the author chose this structure for this information?

Writing Continue working on the biography piece you were writing in school. You should have at least 4 chapters. Work on two of the chapters tonight. Remember that biography/informational writing should be full of facts and expert words. You can also include text features such as a timeline, a map, or a word box about that person.

Spend at least part of the time reading a biography. Be sure to make a mental movie in your mind as you read thinking about what your subject wants and how they get it. Stop and jot using text evidence to explain.

Writing We are starting to draft our biography/informational pieces. Sometimes writers realize that while some chapters are full of facts and information, they do not have enough information to fill other chapters. This weekend, work on researching the chapters of your person that don’t have enough information. You could look in books, on the internet, or ask an adult what they know. But the words on your page should be your own. Don’t include facts or words in your writing if you don’t know what they mean!!
