If you have any questions, please feel welcome to contact Elaine Galasso or our administrative staff at the Society’s Office, 610- 825-3838 or [email protected]. Our annual meeting, which is always superb and somehow still seems to get better every year, is one of the most important activities of our Society. It continues to be a wonderful opportunity to update our knowledge of clinical pharmacology, to learn about the latest developments in therapeutics re- search and drug development, and to meet our col- leagues and make new friends. I very much look forward to seeing you in New Orleans. Reminder: The Executive Committee has delayed the Strategic Planning Retreat until mid-January. It is not too late to provide your input. If you did not complete and return the questionnaire that was sent with the July Newsletter, I urge you to do so. The Society Office can provide you with a copy or you can find it on our web page under Strategic Planning Retreat. Robert E. Vestal, MD, President 1998 ASCPT CLINICAL I’ HARMACOLOGY CURRICULUM REVIEW COURSE The Seventh Annual Curriculum Review Course will be held April 2,1998, at the Marriott Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana, immediately following the ASCPT Annual Meeting. The course is designed to review topics of broad interest to clinical pharmacologists. As in the past, the course will combine presentation of exciting new concepts in Clinical Pharmacology with a review of topics associated with core concepts in Clin- ical Pharmacology. Format will be a combination of featured presentations, didactic sessions, and interac- tive workshops. Areas to be covered include individual and population pharmacokinetics, pharmacokinetic- pharmacodynamic modeling, clinical trial simulations, biological therapeutics, principles of drug action, and drug use in special populations (pediatric, geriatric, obstetric). In addition, an update in HIV therapeutics, drug interactions, and clinical trial design will be in- cluded. FDA and recent regulatory approaches will be reviewed, and finally, a series of workshops will focus on specific therapeutic areas. The Course is appropri- ate for individuals interested in reviewing the disci- pline or desiring an update in key areas.
