Notes of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT- COME TO THE ASCPT/ASPET MEETING IN SAN DIEGO, MARCH 5-8, 1997 The Ninety-eighth Annual Meeting of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics will be held Wednesday, March 5, through Friday, March 7, at the Town and Country Hotel in San Diego. We will be meeting in association with the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), which will hold its meeting from Sunday, March 9, through Tuesday, March 11. March 8 will be an overlap day with presentation of outstanding symposia and speak- ers from both societies. Drs. Janice Schwartz and Alastair Wood and the Scientific Program Committee have devel- oped a superb program. The first three days will include four state-of-the-art lectures and nine symposia that cover a wide range of topics of general interest to clinical phar- macologists, whether based in academia, government or industry. The public policy session will deal with current controversies in evaluating drug trials. We will have our usual morning scientific poster sessions, accompanied by continental breakfast, and stimulating lectures by the re- cipients of our Society’s scientific awards. The ASCPT/ ASPET joint program on March 8 will include two key- note speakers and six symposia. Social events in the San Diego area have been arranged for spouses and guests during the day, and for all partic- ipants on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. ASCPT and ASPET will hold a joint Wine and Cheese Reception on Friday evening, March 7. The Clinical Pharmacology Cur- riculum Review Course will again be conducted by Drs. Darrell Abernethy and Ray Woosley in conjunction with the Annual Meeting on Sunday, March 9. The meeting registration and hotel reservation forms can be found in the back of this issue of the Journal. There is a substantial discount over individual registration fees if you register for both the ASCPT and the ASPET meetings together. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Elaine Galasso or our administrative staff at the Society’s office, 610-825-3838. I look forward to seeing you at our annual meeting, the high point of our Society’s activities. The ASCPT/ASPET conjoint meeting is a special opportunity to learn about recent developments in both basic and clinical pharma- cology. This will be an ideal environment for making new friends and incubating new ideas for research and drug development. See you in March in San Diego.
