The new constitution hasn’t been passed, mostly because of the controversy of adding Buddhism to it.

Roadside killings are becoming more common as the constitution is getting closer to being passed. When Buddhist monks are targeted, they wear bulletproof vests, and often ride in a bulletproof glass sidecars.

According to the census taken in 1960 the population of Thailand numbers 25,519,965. Of this number 94% are Buddhists.

polluted by trash and fecal matter.

• Hundreds of orphaned children in the slums of Manila, Philippines are left to fend for themselves.

Residents scavage whatever is left from ashes in April 2007. Two people killed and 3,000 left homeless.

• Fires destroy 2,500+ dwellings of Manila and leave 22,000 homeless. Fires are a costly damage to the slums each and every year.

• Dwellings are made out of cardboard, scrap metal and trash that are frequently under water due to weekend floods. Also, these communities lack adequate water, housing, sanitation, education, health and employment.

• The tsunami traveled as far as 3,000 miles to Africa still being able to kill people and destroy property.

• The earthquake epicenter was off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia.

• The Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004 killed 283,000 people making it the most deathly tsunami in the world.

• The tsunami effected not only Asia but also other parts of the world.

• The tsunami destroyed more than half of the island. It took all the buildings, houses and establishments in its path.

The people of Thailand have started using alternative methods of transportation such as bike riding. In rural

areas use some people elephant transportation.

did not receive aid from the Indonesian government

• Aceh has large reserves of oil. Indonesia does not want to give Aceh their independence because of that.

• Aceh soldiers seek independence from Indonesia.

• Many Aceh people were killed by the Indonesian government trying to get their freedom.

• Because of the tsunami, violence has came to a halt between Aceh and Indonesia.

•Structures for Visual Pollution destroys the beauty of its landscape. This decreases the number of tourism in Jakarta causing money loss.

Human trafficking has become a wide spread

transitional crime.

The percentage of people in human trafficking increases because of poverty. Thai people are more willing to sell their daughters for an

income.

95 percent of trafficking victims are physicallymistreated and intimidated. Also 60 to 75 percent of the women forced into prostitution are raped. Over two thirds suffer from post-traumatic

stress syndrome.

Male victims of human trafficking were not included under victim protection provisions of Thai law before November 2007.

About 300,000 men, women and children are trafficked across Asia each year, accelerating the spread of HIV/AIDS between the ages of

19 through 44.

Vietnamese workers make $l.60 a day1,300 workers at the Sam Yang factory went on strike to demand a one cent per hour raise in wages. Other

issues include excessive and illegal overtime and compensation for working with hazardous material.

Without any chance of an education, women are forced to work at a young age in an attempt to

support their families. There is no opportunity to change their current state and must continue

working in these conditions as long as they can.

days a week and are sometimes forced to work

overtime.

Working on a Nike assembly line is a stressful job: workers must keep up an

inhuman pace and on top of that they have to worry about potential corporal punishment or verbal abuse when they slow down.

Singapore has over 4,300 high rise buildings in their down tow area. 49 of which are over 450ft high. The tallest three skyscrapers in Singapore are all tied at 919ft. Which is only in the 70th place of the worlds tallest buildings.

Located in Taiwan, the Taipei 101 financial building has had the former title of the worlds tallest building. 1670ft.

The streets of Tokyo are very crowded all of the time. Everyone lives in the city because most parts of Japan are mountainous.

Due to the massive overpopulation in Tokyo, the roads are extremely overcrowded.

This picture shows that the Special Economic Zones are along the open coastal areas of China.

This shows how the cities in China are being developed and how the buildings are becoming more modern. It also shows that there is space

for a new business to be developed.

This represents how President Hu Jintao is reaching out to the working people to try to get their products to be sold in

the Special Economic Zones so they can benefit from them too.

Hainan has developed very rapidly, the top picture shows Hainan in 1990 and the bottom picture shows a much more

developed Hainan in 2008.

This is the symbol representing the 20th year of success in the Hainan Province, one of China’s largest Special

Economic Zones.
