AfterresizingtheHDTVdesktop,thenewcustomresolutioncreatedisnowaddedtothelistofavailableresolutionsforthatdisplay,andalsoaddedtotheresolutionlistwithinthegameorapplication.

InRelease190andlaterdrivers,themethodforresizingtheHDTVdesktophaschangedtoprovidebetterimagequalitywhenapplyingunderscan.Thismethodresultsinanewcustomresolutionbeingcreatedwhichneedstobeselectedfromgamesorapplicationstoapplytheresizing.

Intheexampledisplayedinthefollowingscreenshot,theunderscanhascreatedanewresolution(1216x682).Althoughthisresolutionlooksdifferent,itisstillinHDformat.

High Native Resolution

systemsusingAMDK7andK8CPUsthatresultsintheMicrosoftoperatingsystemallocatingoverlapping4Mcachedpageswith4kwritecombinedpages.Thisconditionresultsinundefinedbehavioranddatacorruption,andisexplicitlydisallowedbytheAMDCPUmanual.

Thisproblemcanaffectanydevicedriverinthesystemthatallocateswritecombinedsystemmemory,butisusuallymosteasilyreproducedwithgraphicsdriverssincegraphicsdriversgenerallymakeheavyuseofwritecombinedsystemmemoryforperformancereasons.
