Week of the Young Child will be held April 16 –20th. This nationally celebrated, week-long event is held annually to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to rec-
ognize the programs and services that meet those needs. This celebration is sponsored by our professional organization, the National Association for the Edu-
cation of Young Children, with the theme “Celebrating Our Youngest Learners.” To celebrate, we will have a week of extra fun activities to honor you and especially the wonderful
children you entrust to us to care and educate every day. Here’s what’s on tap:
Music Monday: We’ll use music to further develop our math, language and literacy skills—all while having fun and being active!
Taco Tuesday: This fun, food-themed day is about more than just cheese and salsa. Cooking togeth-er connects math with literacy skills, science, and more, and our preschool children will experience
all of this today. Delicious fun for all! Work Together Wednesday: As children build together they’ll explore math and science concepts and develop their social skills. Children will use a variety of building materials--from branches for
fort building, to blocks in the classroom to build a city., to pillows to create a cave. Artsy Thursday: Using unique and open-ended materials, we’ll create art for ourselves to be dis-
played throughout our center. Family Friday: Engaging and celebrating families is at the heart of supporting our youngest learn-
ers. We applaud Gateway families and the role they play in their children’s lives as their first and most important teachers!
The day will conclude with a delicious Ice Cream Social from 4-6:00pm.
