hi (;!l in the forcing of fire fi~hting organizations, we tru>e this opportunity to print in a series an article submit-ted to us: .by Fire Chief Fred Hahn, of the Chugiak Volunteer Fire Co.

The Chugiak Volunteer Fire Co. \iri.s formed in 1954 by a group of local citizens, many of wlwm still live within the cor.ununity.

The aim and purpose qf this organization lias to prevent the

~oss . of life and property thro-ugh fires and other mishaps.

Because there is a fire com-pany in existence dows not mean there will be no fires.

:lhen you call your Fire Dept. you are already in trouble, or your property is being destroy-eq by fire or some other calam-ity .

Ue have stressed FIRE PREVEN-TICU; but fire fighting, gecaus of its positive and dramatic ac-tion has greater appeal to nut only the people of Chugirut, but other communities as \ie ll.

? husly, the public has becomo accustomed to judging fire co-mpaiies efficiency by visual evidence. (cont col 3)

LEI'TER TO THE EDITOR: The Chugiak Volunteer

Fire Company \'lishes to at this time tharut the loyal citizens \'lho unselfishly vontuneered their time and effort in attempting through Fire Prevention and securing funds for fir fighting to make this Com-munity just a little bit better and safer place in which to live.

Chugiak lias often heral-ded in the Anchorage news-papers as a growing com-munity that eehers should use as a model

Their disbandment means that the Community has tak en a step bacltt'lard a sad fact to be regognized, when the whole state has truten a monumentus step fo ward in its creation of th State Office of Fire and Safety.

The failure of this Fire Prevention Board to stay in existance lias due to no fault of those who had served faithfully, nor were there any differences bet-\teen the Board and the Chu-girut Volunteer Fire Company

Regardless of rumors,to the latter. lte again wish to express our appreciation for a job \tell done, but so long as '"e have fires not finished.

Those shopping for entertain-ment these fall evenings are

findin~ the BINGO games held by the Chugirut VF\1 more and more popular each lleelt.

The ' prizes are very attra-ctive, with small electric appliances, such as steam ir-ons, coffee mruters etc. being offered, and a jaclt-pot of a $25 savings bond.

The games are held on alter-nate Fridays at the V.Ft/ Hall at mil~ 21 beginning at 8pm.

There is a game this Friday, so if you are getting bored and \iant some exciting fun, come on down and try your luc)f..

All the proceeds of these games go tmiard Chugiak char-ities.
