This Colloquium is in celebration of the lifelong work of Dr. Wolfgang Haider and the inspiration he provided to countless colleagues and students throughout his career. Through this event, we seek to give thanks to a man who so many were fortunate to count as a friend, colleague, teacher and mentor and to say good-bye to a beloved, unforgettable person. We want to honour a man whose intellect, integrity, compassion, humour and insatiable curiosity have left an indelible legacy for those who carry forward his passion for both the environment and the vital contributions that social science can make towards improved natural resource management and nature-based recreation.

The Colloquium is also intended to celebrate the spirited and critical voice that Wolfgang brought to his research, always inciting others to think outside the box and see the world in a different way. Beyond celebrating the many gifts that Wolfgang left behind, we hope that this event will serve as a platform for his ideas as well as an inspiration to enlarge upon his ideas in the future.
