Every year is a year of change! As Winston Churchill said: “There is nothing wrong with change if it is in the right direction.” In 2018, Racker embraced significant changes to improve the way we support people in our community. We changed to become more efficient in how we deliver our programs to increase the number of people we serve. We changed to respond to external factors and market related forces that put us at risk and influenced our outcomes.

In 2018, we encountered change in every administrative and program area in the organization. Change can be bittersweet as we saw the retirement of some devoted and talented staff. Racker was poised for change when we converted our Medicaid Service Coordinators to Care Managers. Racker created change as we implemented Self-Direction and integrated four new information technology systems. We even changed our name!

Racker is resilient! We have a talented and devoted staff. Change in the right direction will always have challenges and obstacles. The staff at Racker is exceptional because they embrace change and they see the progress through the great things that happen for the people we support. We are so thankful to all of our donors and contributors who help facilitate change, and help create a world where all people know they belong.

Program Spotlights

Our Early Childhood programs support children from birth through five years of age. Whether in their homes, in early childhood programs throughout the region, or in Racker’s inclusive preschool programs, we help children thrive. Our Clinical programs support ages 3 through adult including an Audiology clinic that’s open to the general public.

Racker provides school based mental health services for students attending the Turning Point programs at Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga and Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES. In addition, we work with children, families, and schools to support students’ overall success in their home schools and communities.

Residential provides people with developmental disabilities of all ages a place where they can live and thrive. Our goal is to enhance the lives of participants by affording opportunities for lifelong community involvement in a nurturing environment.
