MILESTONES IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSITY. ON THE WAY TO THE 90™ ANNIVERSARY

1918 - Riga Polytechnic University was evacuated in Ivanovo-Voznesensk due to the revolution. Ivanovo-Voznesensk Polytechnic University, later named after M.Frunze, was established.

1930 - Ivanovo Power Engineering University was formed on the basis of mechanical engineering faculty of Ivanovo-Voznesensk Polytechnic University. P.I.PIekhanov was appointed Rector.

1931 - The University was headed by YF.Kedrov. The construction of Building "A" was started.

1933 - The two faculties - Heat Engineering Faculty and Electrotechnical Faculty -were established. F.YOkhotnikov became Rector.

1938 - AN.Zverev was appointed Rector. Due to the 20th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution the university was named after V.I.Lenin.

1939 - The University was given under the jurisdiction of people's commissariat of electric power stations and electrical industry.

1941 - At the beginning of World War II 330 students and teachers went to the front. All the dormitories and half of the "A" Building were turned into hospitals.

1947 - Power Engineering Faculty was established. The Heat Engineering Faculty was renamed Heat-and-Power Engineering Faculty.

1963 - Building "B" was dedicated. 1965 - Gym and sport-and-recreat ion summer camp on Rubskoye Lake were

dedicated. A dormitory for 940 people was constructed. 1970 - The university was headed by Prof. YB.Borodulin, Doctor of Engineering

Science. 1972 - Health center was opened. The construction of Building "C" was started. 1978 - The university was visited by A.P.AIeksandrov, the head of the USSR Academy

of Sciences. The first scientific conference devoted to magnetic liquids was held in Plyos. 1 9 8 0 - By the Decree of the USSR Supreme Soviet Presidium Ivanovo Power

Engineering University was awarded a "Medal of Honor". Special design bureau "Polus" engaged in magneto-liquid device development was created.

1986 - Prof. V.N.Nuzhdin, Doctor of Engineering Science, was assigned to the post of rector.

1992 - The university was granted a status of State Engineering University. 1997 - Doctoral Study Department was opened with specializations in: CAD systems,

Workflow and Industrial Automation, Electrotechnical Complexes and Systems including Management and Control.

2001 - The Interuniversity Faculty of Further Education was established. 2005 - Nuclear Power Station "Kalininskaya" donated a full-scale power-generating

unit simulator to ISPU. The Interfaculty Simulator Center was created. 2006 - Prof. S.V.Tararykin, Doctor of Engineering Science, was elected rector. 2007 - The gym was remodeled. The field and track training ground was resurfaced. 2 0 0 8 - A s ta te -o f - the -a r t laboratory was opened in the Department of

Electromechanics. The Military Training Department resumed working and the Military Training Center was established. International Russian-French Training and Production Center of Energy Efficient Technologies "ISPU - De Dietrich" was opened.

Dear colleagues and friends! 90 years ago People's Commissar Meeting established

Ivanovo-Voznesensk Polytechnic University on the basis of Riga Polytechnic University. The new university provided the basis of higher education in Ivanovo City which is rightfully considered to be a city of students, a city of universities.

I congratulate all the students, staff members, teachers and graduates on this day and I wish you to be a worthy suc-cessor of the first Ivanovo University, to continue and multiply its fine traditions.
