NOTErAe reader is particularly requested to look up the various textsreferred to, as their insertion would unduly extend this pamphlet.

In the present pamphlet I have endeavoured toput before the reader in the smallest possiblespace certain clues to the prophetic utterancesof the Bible showing that we are now living inthat Time of the End to which they refer. Thisdoes not mean the end of the world, the end ofthe planet, concerning which we have no indi-cation, but the E^d of the Age, that is the ter-mination of the present order of things andthe introduction of that New Order to whichthe whole of Scripture leads up.The war now waging, which is without par-

allel in all history, is not a mere struggle fornational precedence, it is a conflict of princi-ples. It is a conflict between the principle of

    3/26

liberty on the one hand, leading on to individ-ual development, international peace, and theexpansion of natural resources beyond any-thing hitherto realized, and the principle of des-potism which must retard the progress of hu-manity for many generations, and as the greatwar of principles it forms the climax of the OldOrder and is the worthy subject of prophecy.

If there is such a thing as a Supreme Intelli-gence/ taking cognizance of the affairs of menit must see things primarily from the point ofview of principles whether on the scale of indi-viduals or of nationsit must see things firstin the realm of spiritual causation, and then asa consequence see the working-out of thesecauses on the plane of material effects. Phil-osophically this would be the attitude of suchan Intelligence as it looked down the ages ofhuman evolution, an evolution rather of mindthan of body; and if such a Supreme Intelli-gence gave utterance to what it thus saw, thatutterance would be what we call prophecy. Nowthis is exactly what the Bible claims for theDivine Mind, and if we find these utterancesparalleled by corresponding events we can onlyconclude that the men who recorded themspoke by Divine inspiration. And there is apersonal interest for us in the subject, for oninvestigation it will be found that, while cer-tain prophetic periods have already elapsed

  • 8/4/2019 1914-1923inProphecy

    4/26

and been accompanied by corresponding eventsat the times indicated, the period of other pre-dictions is due, by the same method of calcula-tion, to run out at the present time; and theknowledge that the tremendous events nowtranspiring are being utilized by the Divineguidance for the ultimate establishing of peaceand prosperity for all mankind will give us afirm foundation of hope in the hour of conflictand trial. One marked feature of the Bible prophecies

is their definiteness in regard to time. Theymake definite statements of the reign and yearin which they were uttered, and when we knowtheir scale of measurement they will be foundto give equally definite statements as to the pe-riod of their fulfilment, and it is to this Timeelement I particularly wish to draw attention inthis pamphlet, for it will be, found that theseprophecies clearly indicate the years 1914 to1923 as a period of transition from an order ofthings which is passing away to a new and bet-ter order. It is not improbable that some of theprophecies extend still further, but it is to thisparticular period I would draw attention, forth^ events connected with it are now happen-ing around us and we are personally concernedwith them.

Before entering upon the consideration ofparticular events and dates I wish to point out

    5/26

three clues to the subject. In Genesis i. 14 weare told that God appointed the Sun and Moon^^foi^ signs and for seasons and for days andfor years/' and we shall find that all the pro-phetic periods are measured by the combinedmovements of these two luminaries. This dis-tinguishes the predictions of the Bible fromthose of astrology. There is no mention of anyof the planets, and the events themselves are inno way attributed to the influence of the sun andmoon ; they simply measure, like the two handsof a clock, the lapse of the periods foretold. The second point is that a great SeptenaryLaw pervades all these periodsa Law ofSevens measuring time by ** Weeks.*' Theunits may be years or centuries, but they al-ways fall into groups of '*weeks" or **halfweeks'' of such units. The same law is foundto obtain throughout all Nature in the variousphysiological functions of insects, animals, andman ; but as I want to be as brief as possible Ionly mention this as one indication amongothers that the Bible prophecies are the utter-ances of the same All-Creating Spirit fromwhich Nature on every plane proceeds. The third point is the scale by which the pro-phetic periods are to be measured. It is a min-iature scale like that of a map, and by its usewe can realise our whereabouts in the chrono-logical order of events. The Bible states this

    6/26

scale plainly in two passages, Numbers xiv. 34,and Ezekiel iv. 4-6it is a day for a year. With these three clues to guide us we may nowlook at the prophecies themselves. The principal chronological statements ofprophetic periods occur in the books of Danieland Revelations, and they deal with certain pe-riods of 2520 years, 2300 years, 1260 years,1335 years, and one short period of 41% years. These, then, are the periods we have to con-sider, always remembering that the whole Biblecentres round its first prophecy of ''the seed ofthe woman, ' ' without which we lose the point ofthe whole Book. The first of these periods, 2520 years, is the

duration of Gentile rule over Jerusalem, those' ' Times of the Gentiles ^ ^ spoken of by Christ*' Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gen-tiles until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. ^(Luke xxi. 24.) This is a great ''week'' ofseven days, each of which is a calendar year of360 days, each of these "days'' being itself ayear of natural time, and thus we get the result360x7 2520. Half of this "week" is thecelebrated period of 1260 days, forty-and-twomonths, or time, times, and a half so frequentlyoccurring in Revelations, and also in Danielxii. 5-9.The entire period of 2520 years, however, is

nowhere expressly mentioned in so many

words, but it is symbolically indicated in tbeduration of King Nebuchadnezzar 's loss of rea-son. (Dan. iv.) We may infer from the twopreceding chapters that the king himself, as thegolden head of the image seen by him in hisvision, represented the entire succession of fourGentile empires which were to dominate Jeru-salem. The interpretation of his vision, insteadof leading him to recognize the Divine over-ruling of human affairs, appears to have re-sulted in what, if I may be allowed to use anexpressive colloquialism, we should now call''swelled head''attributing his power andglory to his own cleverness, and in representa-tion of his own greatness he set up the goldenimage, for refusing to bow down to whichShadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were castinto the fiery furnace; and his deprivation ofreason appears to have been inflicted in orderto convince him of his error. This is the con-nection between the three chapters. If, then,we regard Nebuchadnezzar as representing thewhole succession of Gentile rulers, the period ofhis loss of reason represents the duration oftheir rule during which true reasoning based onrecognition of the Divine nature has not beenthe ruling principle, but armed force and diplo-matic duplicity have taken its place. Seen in thislight the ''seven times" of King Nebuchadnez-zar's loss of reason are the double of the "time,

ti^es, and a half*' of prophecy, the equivalentof which the Bible itself gives as 1260 days. Onthis scale a ^'time'* is a calendar year consist-ing of twelve months of thirty days each, sothat ^^ seven times'* amount to 2520 days, whiclion the prophetic scale above mentioned mustbe interpreted as 2520 years for the duration ofthe ^^ Times of the Gentiles.'*Now, 2520 is a remarkable number in itself,

for it is the least common multiple of the firstten numerals; the first in the numerical serieswhich is exactly divisible by all of them withoutremainder. Also in addition to the septiformcharacter previously noted it has a remarkablecharacter astronojmically, for during this periodthe solar year of 365 days gains on the lunaryear of 354 days exactly 75 years ; and if welook at the concluding verses of the Book ofDaniel we shall find that precisely this periodis added as mysteriously supplementary to theentire prophetic * * week. ' *Now to test this prophetic **week" by therecord of history, if we take this number ofyears, starting from an important point in thedownfall of the Jewish monarchy, namely, theremoval of King Jehoiachim from Jerusalemby Nebuchadnezzar, in B.C. 606, it brings us ex-actly to the present year, 1914. Or if we takethe carrying away of the Ten Tribes to Assyria,in B.C. 676-7, as our starting-point, the same

number of lunar years brings us to a most im-portant epoch in the downfall of Mahomedanpower, namely, the year 1844, when the Sultanof Turkey was compelled by the Christianpowers to pass an edict of religious tolerationand rescind the law by which a convert fromIslam to Christianity was liable to death. Andin this connection it should be observed that asthe Mahomedan calendar reckons by lunaryears so all the prophecies relating to theMahomedan power do the same.We shall have occasion to refer to this periodof 2520 years again, but for the present we mayturn to the prophecy of 2300 years contained inDaniel viii. 14. This refers, more particularlyin regard to its latter portion, to the rise andfall of Mahomedan power ; which is symbolizedby a '* little horn^' arising out of one of thefour kingdoms into which the kingdoms of the'^he-goat*' is divided (verses 9 and 23). TheBible tells us that the ram seen by Daniel in hisvision represents the Medo-Persian empirewhile the ^^ he-goat ^^ which overcomes him isthe Grecian empire, and we know from historythat the Medo-Persian empire was overthrownby Alexander the Great, who died at Babylon,B.C. 323. His empire was then divided betweenhis four generals, Cassender, Lysimachus,Ptolemy, and Seleucus, the last of whomfounded the line of the Seleucidae, who ruled

    10

  • 8/4/2019 1914-1923inProphecy

    10/26

over Syria. Now we learn from Daniel vii. 24,and Rev. xii. 24 that a ''horn'* signifies a''king/' meaning a political ruling power. A"little horn'' taking the place of one of thefour horns therefore signifies a political powerarising from very small beginnings within thearea of one of these four kingdoms, and thedescription in verse 9 indicates the geographi-cal direction of its expansion, and the fact thatit will have possession of the Holy Land. As amatter of history, it was within the area occu-pied by the kingdom of the Seleucidae thatMahomed set up his standard and his religion, the small beginnings of which, and their subse-quent expansion exactly agree with the pro-phetic description. The prophecy of 2300 days, we are told, refers to the Desolation of the Sanctuary and

the taking away of the daily sacrifice, but asthis prophecy was given during the BabylonianCaptivity when the daily sacrifice was in abey-ance, its renewal before the commencement ofthe period is necessarily implied, so that theearliest point we can take for calculation is thedecree of Artaxerxes to restore and rebuildJerusalem in B.C. 457. Now 2300 years fromthat date bring us once more to 1844, the criti-cal importance of which year, in the decay ofMahomedan power I have already pointed out.One of the most important dates in antiquity

  • 8/4/2019 1914-1923inProphecy

    11/26

is the accession of Nabonassar, the first kingof Babylon. It ranks with the first Olympiadin Grecian history and the A.U.C. in Romanhistory as a marked era for chronological pur-poses, and certain contemporary astronomicalobservations, confirmed by modern astron-omers, enable us to fix this date with remarkableprecision. It was 26th February, 747 B.C.Now if we take this as our starting-point, andto the '^ half-week ^' or 1260 years we add themysterious 75 supplementary years indicatedin Daniel xii., which, as already stated, is theEpact of the 2520 years, this total of 1335 takenas lunar years from the accession of Nabonas-sar brings us to a remarkable epoch in therise of the Mahomedan powerthe birth ofMaliomed in A.D. 570.

Or, again, calculating from the overthrow ofJudah by Nebuchadnezzar in the reign ofJehoiachim, B.C. 602, twelve hundred and sixtylunar years bring us to A.D. 622, the date ofthe ^^Hijra/' or so-called flisrht of Mahomedfrom Mecca to Medina where he was first pub-licly accepted as prince and prophet; and theHijra is the date from which the Mahomedanera starts just as our's does from the birth ofChrist.

Then, if we take the Hijra as our startingpoint, 1260 lunar years bring us once again

Note that in adding B.C. to A.D. dates, one year bas to besubtracted,?2

  • 8/4/2019 1914-1923inProphecy

    12/26

to that remarkable date in reference to theMoslem power, the year 1844.Once more, if we calculate 1260 lunar yearsfrom the burning of the temple by Nebuchad-

nezzar in B.C. 587 we come to A.D. 637, whenJerusalem was captured by the Saracens, andthe Mosque of Omar erected on the site of thetemple, on which occasion Sempronius, thenBishop of Jerusalem, is reported to have said,''This is, indeed, the abomination of desolationspoken of by the prophet Daniel.''

This concurrence between the prophetic pe-riods and important critical points in therise and decline of the power by which theSanctuary is trodden down, is so marked byits wonderful reiteration that it cannot beattributed to mere chance. It is cumulativeevidence which cannot be disposed of by anytheory of simple coincidence, and therefore wemay reasonably believe that the same pro-phetic power which has thus signally verifieditself up to the present' time will do so inrespect of dates still in the future. If then, wetake the founding of the Kingdom of theSeleucidae, out of which this '* little horn'' arose, namely, the year 312 B.C., as our starting point,2300 lunar years bring us to 1919. What maybe the exact event then to happen we cannotsay, but in the light of already fulfilled pro-phecy we may well suppose that it will be one

of marked importancepossibly the liberationof Jerusalem from 'Moslem rule as a prelimi-nary to the predicted return of the Jews totheir own land. Events at any rate seem to betending in that direction; for Turkey, whichhad no adequate political motive for enteringinto the present struggle has now done so underthe influence of Germany, thus opening the wayfor the possibilities here suggested. The Ottoman power, however, is not the only

    * ' little horn ' ' spoken of in Scripture. A carefulcomparison of Daniel and Revelations will showthat the little horn mentioned in Daniel vii. 8is not the same little horn mentioned in the nextchapter. The latter proceeds as we have seenfrom among the four horns which arose onthe breaking of the single horn of the Grecian'' he-goat,'^ while the other rises among theten horns of the fourth beast of Daniel's visioncorresponding to those of the dragon in Rev.xii. and xiii. Their periods also are different, the one exercising power for 2300 years andthe other for *Hime, time, and the dividing oftime'' or 1260 years. They have, however, certain features in conmion. Both are littlehorns arising from almost imperceptible begin-nings, and both are described in terms indica-tive of a temporal dominion based on the claimto spiritual power and a Divine commission?and in the pages of history we meet with just

    14

    14/26

two powers, and no others, which exactlyanswer to this description. These are Islamand the Papacy. Just as the former arose outof one of the four horns, so the latter took itsrise in the fourth, or Roman, Empire, after itsdivision into a number of separate kingdomsindicated by the ten toes of the image in Danielii. 41 and the ten horns in Daniel vii. 7 andRev. xvii. 12.And here I would particularly ask the readerto note that I am not discussing the merits ofRoman Catholism as a religion. It has pro-

duced great and good men and women, and itsadequacy for his own needs is a question whichthe individual must decide for himself. Whatwe are here concerned with is the Time indica-tions of Scripture and their reference to thesetwo systems in their historical aspect as exer-cising political dominion. Both are politicalsystems based upon the allegation of a Divinecommission; and if we realize that the commu-nion of the soul with God the great recognitionthat ''I and my Father are One,'' must by itsvery nature be a purely personal and spiritualmatter, it must be clear that this personalspiritual recognition cannot be made the basisof temporal domination. The claim, therefore,to make the relation of the soul to God, a purelyspiritual relation, the foundation of a politicalsystem, is an inversion of the truth; and it is

    15

  • 8/4/2019 1914-1923inProphecy

    15/26

with the statement of their duration as worldlypowers contained in the prophetic books thatthese two systems at present concern us.Turning, then, to the prophetic indicationsregarding the duration of the Papacy as aworldly political system, we find that 1260 yearsfrom the era of Nabonassar, which is that ofthe founding of the Babylonian Empire, wecome to the year A.D. 514, which is that of theaccession of Hormisdas to the Bishopric ofRome, whose episcopate is noteworthy in therise of the Papal power for the claim which hemade, prior to Justinian *s edict, of the suprem-acy of the Roman Bishop over all Christendom,a claim set for by the terms in which he withdrew the excommunication of the EasternEmperor and Patriarch. And, again, if w^ addthe supplementary 75 years of the concluding-verses of Daniel we come to the accession ofGregory the Great, the Pope who, as all his-torians agree, did more to consolidate thepolitical power of the Roman see than anyother. Then if we calculate in like manner onwards

from the date of various distinguishing pointsin the rise of the Papacy, we find that a periodof 1260 years brings us a succession of corre-sponding critical points in the history of itsdecay as a political power. One of the mostimportant dates in the history of the rise of the

    16

    16/26

Papal authority is that of the decree of theEmperor Justinian constituting the Bishop ofRome the head of all the churches. This wasin A.D. 533, and 1260 years from that datebring us to 1793, the outbreak of the FrenchRevolution, when France, which had in pre-vious generations been the staunchest sup-porter of the Popes, became openly infidel andplaced a notorious actress, as representing theGoddess of Reason, upon the high altar of theCathedral of Notre Dame to receive the officialrecognition of the representatives of theRepublic.Another marked event in the development of

the Roman hierarchy is the decree of theEmperor Phocas in A.D. 606 conceding to PopeBoniface III., not only the primacy over all theWestern churches, but also over the Patriarch-ate of Constantinople and all the Easternchurches. This emperor died in 610. Now ifwe take the corresponding period 1260 yearslater, namely from 1866 to 1870, we find itmarked by a succession of steps in the down-fall of the political power of the Church ofRome as follows. On 3rd July, 1866, at thebattle of Sadowa, Prussia crushed Austriawhich had for centuries been the seat of the*^Holy Roman Empire,*' a sort of permanentalliance between the Imperial house of Austriaand the Popes of Rome. In October of the

    17

    17/26

same year the Austrians were driven out ofVenice by the Italians, and in November VictorEmanuel was crowned at Turin with the ironcrown of the Kings of Lombardy, all theseevents tending greatly to weaken the prestige ofthe Papacy in its political aspect. In 1868 thePope summoned a great (Ecumenical Councilto meet at Rome in December, 1869, which itdid, and on 18th July, 1870, decreed the Infalli-bility of the Pope. The very next day Francedeclared war against Prussia with the resultthat Napoleon III. was defeated at Sedan on1st September. The French troops which hadsupported the authority of the Pope evacuatedRome on 21st August, and the Italian armyentered the Papal States on 12th September, and Rome with its provinces was incorporatedin the Kingdom of Italy by a royal decree on9th October, thus putting an end to the lastvestiges of the temporal power of the Papacyjust 1260 years from its assumption.

These correspondences of successive dates inthe rise and decline of the Papal authority withthe prophetic interval of 1260 years appear tobe something more than a mere coincidence, especially when they are paralled by a similarcorrespondence in the case of the Ottomanpower, and we may therefore regard with someexpectation the running out of 1260 yearscalculated from another marked point in the

    18

    18/26

Papal history. That is the year A.D. 663 whenPope Vitalian commanded the services of thechurch throughout Christendom to be cele-brated only in Latin, thus marking the Churchof Rome as emphatically the Latin Church.Twelve hundred-and-sixty years from that datebring us to the year 1923, a date which, as willbe presently seen, we also reach by othermethods of calculation.

This edict of Vitalian is remarkable asemphasising the Latinity of the Roman Church. In Rev. xiii. 18 we read, ^ ' Here is wisdom. Lethim that hath understanding count the numberof the beast : for it is the number of a man ; andhis nu;mber is six hundred threescore and six. ' ^We are here told that this is the number of aman, that is to say, the equivalent of a man'sname. The Book of Revelations was writtenin Greek and each letter in the Greek alphabetrepresents a certain number. Now the Greekword for ^' Latin'' is **Lateinos," and this isthe name of the legendary founder of theKingdom of Latium, of which Rome afterwardsbecame the capital, and is thus the name of aman. And the numerical equivalent of^^Lateinos" is six hundred and sixty-six; so thathere we have an exact correspondence with theenigmatical description given in the text justquoted. To show how the Papal political systemhas fulfilled the description given of the power

    19

    19/26

which has this Imysterious number would re-quire an excursion into the realmsi of historyfar beyond the limits of this pamphlet, but froma careful investigation it will be found that thehistorical features correspond so closely withthe prophetic descriptions as to show that thenumerical correspondence of the name is not amatter of chance and that it leaves no room fordoubt as to the political-religious power in-tended.Calculating, then, from the edict of Vitalianwe find that the prophetic ** half-week*' of 1260years brings us to the year 1923 as one in whichdevelopments of marked importance may beexpected in that chain of events which is to cul-minate in the establishment of the Divine King-dom upon earth. What may be the precise na-ture of those events I cannot of course tell ; butthat the year in question is one of critical sig-nificance is indicated also by the fact that twoother prophetic periods bring us to the samedate.

If we take the whole prophetic **week'* of2520 calendar years and reckon from the de-struction of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar in598 B.C. this brings us to the year 1923 as thetermination of the * * Times of the Gentiles. '

Again, let us take as our starting point forthe ** Times of the Gentiles'' the accession ofNabonassar, the first King of Babylon, which

    20

  • 8/4/2019 1914-1923inProphecy

    20/26

as already observed is a marked epoch in chron-ology, and divide the whole period into two''half-weeks'' (''time, times and a half') of1260 years, and to each of these periods add thesupplementary 75 years mentioned in the con-cluding verses of the Book of Danielthat isto say, the Epact, or number of years whichthe sun gains on the moon during the whole2520 years, this gives us a total of 2670 years. Then if from 2670 years we deduct the 747years back from the Christian era to that ofNabonassar, this brings us yet once more tothe year 1923. The year 1923 is thus of markedimportance in the runnning-out of the "Timesof the Gentiles,'' and the events now tran-spiring appear to indicate the commencement ofthat Time of Transition of which, at any ratein its more immediate developments, the year1923 appears to be the close. We have already seen that the full week of2520 years from the captivity era of Judah B.C.606 brings us to the present year 1914, and itis remarkable that two other calculations do thesame. We find in Rev. xvii. 12 that the tenkings receive a dominion of "one hour" incompany with the beast, during which they turnagainst the mystic Babylon, which from otherpassages they appear to have previously sup-ported, and at the end of the hour Babylon isfinally destroyed. Now if we take literally the

statement that a thousand years is with theLord as one day (II. Pet. iii. 12) and regard theseven days of Creation given in Genesis astypical of the work of preparation for the NewCreation, then by analogy we may consider theentire period frojn the creation of Adam to thefinished work as a great week of seven thousandyears, of which the last thousand is to be aperiod of rest, a Sabbatical millenary. Now,by adding together the various periods given inthe Bible, such as the ages of the patriarchs atthe birth of their sons, length of reigns, and thelike, and proceed by well-known historical datesfrom the point where the chronology traceablein the Bible terminates, we find that six thou-sand years from the creation of Adam bring usto the year 1873. Then we have to add **onehour*' on the same scale, namely one-twenty-fourth of a thousand years, which is forty-oneyears and eight months, and this brings us tothe year 1914-15 as the time of the end.*

Lastly, the same testimony is borne by theGreat Pyramid, that inspired monument of theages which Isaiah xix. 19 calls *^an altar to theLord in the midst of the land of Egypt.'' Ithas long been recognised that the interiorpassages are laid down to a scale of time meas-urements of an inch to a year, just as in the

prophetic writings we have a scale of day to ayear. The Grand Gallery is usually concededto represent the Christian dispensation, and atits coimmencement is situated what is knownas the Opening to the Grotto, typical of theResurrection of Christ. Now the length of theGrand Gallery is 1881-2 inches, and if thisnumber of years is reckoned from the Resur-rection we must add to it the thirty-three yearsof Our Lord's earthly life, thus once againbringing us to the date 1914-15 as that of theTime of the End.

I think that after perusing the foregoing thereader will see there is something more thanmere coincidence in the way these prophecieswork out by a definite scale, and in accordancewith definite astronomical periods, to definiteevents which correspond with the propheticdescription, and we can conceive of no otherpower capable of thus foretelling history overcenturies but that of the Parent Spirit whocreated the sun and moon and made them thehands of a Divine chronometer to measure thetimes of the events leading up to the final consummation in the restitution of all things. Inparticular the reader cannot fail to notice thereiteration with which the prophetic periodspoint to the years 1914 to 1923, and the way inwhich the stupendous events that commenced inAugust of the present year (1914), affecting as

they must the whole civilised world, correspondquite literally with the description containedin the prophecies which indicate these dates. The correspondence is too exact to need com-ment, but the question arises. What are allthese things leading to? The answer the Biblegives is that they are to terminate in the setting up of that Divine Kingdom of righteous-ness and peace in which all the nations of theearth are to be blessedthe Kingdom of Christ, who first came in humility to offer a DivineSacrifice for the sin of the whole world, andWho is to come again to reign in Millenialglory.

In this pamphlet I have endeavoured to putsome of the most salient points into the shortestpossible form for readers unacquainted withthe subject, but further study will show thatthe prophetic system here briefly sketched is ofmuch greater extent and perlmeates the wholeBible. To any who wish for a more detailedknowledge of the subject I would recommendthe book to which I am mainly indebted for thesubstance of these pages, ^^The ApproachingEnd of the Age,'' by Grattan Gruinness, but asit was written some thirty-five years ago, Jcannot say whether it is now obtainable. There is also yet another most important

Ten Tribes which never returned to Palestineafter their deportation by the Assyrians. Whatbecame of them? The answer is that they arenow the whole English-speaking race, who aretherefore the literal heirs of the promises, andwhose destiny it is, under Divine guidance, tobe the visible instrumentality for spreading thecoming Kingdom of Peace and the Brotherhoodof Man. The Divine prediction regarding theseso-called **Lost Tribes'* is not their destructionbut their concealment under '* another name"until the due time for their recognition shouldarrive, and both prophecy and the course ofevents indicate that the time is now at hand, and that Judah shall also return with them. This gives us the key to all history, past, pres-ent, and future, and without it history is anunintelligible jumble, having no connectingthread and no discernible purpose. But thisgreat subject is beyond the limits of the presentpamphlet, so I will only point out the ThreeSigns by which this race is to be recognised forwhat it really is. These signs are

THE STONE, THE FLAG, andTHE WOMAN.

Literature on this last-named subject can beobtained from Messrs. Banks & Son, RacquetCourt, Fleet Street, London.
