19 November 2020 QUEENSLANDER!! How good were they! P&C Meeting The next P & C meeting will be Tuesday, November 24 at 7pm. The major topic will be parking around the school. We will hold the meeting in the staffroom to ensure more people can attend and comply with the COVID 2sqm rule. If you would like to attend in person, please be aware attendance is limited to 38 people and must be registered with the P &C office: 5471-9371 or [email protected], by midday Tuesday. Alternatively you can attend via Zoom and link up from the comfort of your couch. Register as above. For those who will attend for the first time the P&C constitution only allows membership at the conclusion of their first attendance. Until a full member you cannot move or vote any motion, you certainly can have you say and have you voice heard. Mountain Biking in Coolum We are aware that quite a number of our students are into mountain biking and making trails across the Coolum community. This term we have been working with council officers on a possible solution to support these students wanting to ride trails and jumps, balancing this with a safe area. We have arranged a meeting with our local councillor and council officers at 3:30pm Wednesday 2 December at school. During this meeting we will share a proposal for feedback. Council will also return equipment confiscated from the area to students. If you would like to register for this event please e-mail [email protected] or call the office. Intentions for 2021 If you are planning on moving from the Coolum State School community at the end of the year please contact the school at [email protected].This will assist us to support your child’s transition, and plan for our 2021 classes.

Year 1 Fire and Emergency Services Visit

The Firefighters came to visit the Year 1’s this week. They talked about fire safety and they let us

spray water from the truck, out across the oval. We talked about what we enjoyed most, after their

visit, and the important messages we had learned. Here are some of the things we said in our

thank you letters the next day.

Thank you for visiting our school.

I liked it when Jim dressed up in the fireman clothes.

Thank you for letting me look at the fire truck.

I had fun using the hose to spray the grass.

My Dad has checked the smoke alarm and it is working.

I figured out where my spot is if there is a fire at my house.

I remembered to ask my Mum where our meeting place is.

Thanks for showing us what it is like to be a Firefighter. You are cool.

I wish I could be a fireman when I am older.

I hope you come again.
