IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSWARNING: WHEN USING A CORDLESS CHAIN SAW, BASIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED TO

PERSONS, INCLUDING THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, AND INJURY TO PERSONS, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.1. Keep Work Area Clean

Cluttered areas invite injuries. Do not start cutting until you have a clear work area, secure footing, and a planned retreat path from the falling tree.

2. Consider Work Area EnvironmentUse extreme caution when cutting small size brush and saplings because the slendermaterial may catch the saw chain and be whipped toward you or pull you off balance. Donot operate a chain saw in a tree unless specifically trained to do so. When cutting a limbthat is under tension be alert for spring back so that you will not be struck when the tensionin the wood fibers is released. Don't expose chain saw to rain. Don't use chain saw indamp or wet locations. Do not use chain saw in presence of flammable liquids or gases.

3. Guard Against Electric ShockPrevent body contact with grounded surfaces. For example: metal pipes, wire fences.

4. Keep Children AwayDo not let visitors contact chain saw. All visitors should be kept away from work area.

5. Store Idle Chain SawWhen not in use, chain saws should be stored in a dry, and high or locked-up place. Keep out of the reach of children. When storing saw, use a scabbard or carrying case.

6. Don't Force Chain SawIt will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was intended.

12. Disconnect Chain SawDisconnect battery cartridge from chain saw when not in use, before servicing, and whenchanging accessories and attachments, such as saw chain and guard.

13. Stay AlertWatch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not operate chain saw when you aretired. Keep all parts of the body away from the saw chain when the motor is operating. Before you start the saw, make sure the saw chain is not in contact with anything.

14. Check Damaged PartsBefore further use of the chain saw, a guard or other part that is damaged should becarefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function.Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damagedshould be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service center unless otherwiseindicated elsewhere in this instruction manual. Have defective switches replaced byauthorized service center. Do not use chain saw if switch does not turn it on and off.Do not operate a chain saw that is damaged, improperly adjusted, or is not completely andsecurely assembled. Be sure that the saw chain stops moving when the trigger is released.

15. Guard Against Kickback WARNING: KICKBACK may occur when the nose or tip of the guide bar touchesan object, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut. Tip contactin some cases may cause a lightning fast reverse reaction, kicking the guide bar upand back towards the operator. Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide bar may push the guide bar rapidly back towards the operator. Either of these reactions may cause you to lose control of the saw which could result in serious injury to user. The following precautions should be followed to minimize kickback.(1) Grip saw firmly. Hold the chain saw firmly with both hands when the motor is running. Use a firm grip with thumbs and fingers encircling the chain saw handles.

When cutting thick branches first make a shallow undercut and then make the finish cut fromthe top.

If you try to cut off thick branches from the bottom, the branch may close in and pinch the sawchain in the cut.

If you try to cut off thick branches from the top without a shallow undercut, the branch maysplinter.

If you cannot cut the timber right throughwith a single stroke: Apply light pressureto the handle and continue sawing and drawthe chain saw back a little; then apply thespike a little lower and finish the cut by raisingthe handle.

Adjusting saw chain tensionThe saw chain may become loose after many hours of use. From time to time check the sawchain tension before use. Grasp the saw chain in the middle of the guide bar and lift up. Thegap between the guide bar and the tie strap of the saw chain should be approx. 2 - 3 mm(5/64in. - 7/64in.). If the gap is not approx. 2 - 3 mm (5/24in.-7/64in.), slightly loosen the hexsocket head bolt which secures the guide bar. The gap will be automatically adjusted to approx.

2-3 mm (5/64in.-7/64in.) by the saw chain tension adjusting spring. Then tighten the hexsocket head bolt securely after making sure that the gap is approx. 2 - 3 mm (5/64in.- 7/64in.).
