Motupipi Triathlon

“Go!” shouted Mr C. I ran into the water. Splash, splash, splash! “Oh no!” my shoe came off! I had to go back. Drat! That slowed me down. “Ahhhh!” My other shoe came off! I felt very scared. I did not think that I would win! I was paddling with my shoes. I could taste the sea salt. I waded past Helen, yelling Helen. Then I waded past another boy. “Ahhhh!” I had stepped into a hole. It was a big hole. I kept on going. Plop, plop, plop! Yes! I was out of the water. By Dylan Triathlon fun I was running as fast as a silver spark of lightning. I came out of the water puffing with relief. I panted all the way to my bike. I sped onto the bike track. I biked as fast as my legs could take me. Then I jumped so fast off my bike, all I could have seen of myself was a blurrrrrr!! Then I ran as fast as a jungle cheetah to the finish line. I was so relieved. I came third. By Rhys To Mr Troll We do not like your behaviour. You should get a job in town. You should have a shower and comb your hair. From Tarn In the weekend some people came to our house and the man plays the guitar and the lady plays the drums. By Tarn In the weekend we went to the beach and we rode our bikes. We had chocolates on my sister’s bike. I went with her and helped her sell the chocolates. By Tarn To Mr Troll and Mrs Troll I am writing to you because you are bullying the Billy Goats. You need to change your name if you are nice. From Baby Billy Goat. To Mrs and Mr Troll I am writing to tell you that I go to Motupipi School and I know that another child goes to Motupipi School and he knows the school values and I think you should know them too. They are caring, respect, responsibility, achievement, self worth and honesty. By Kieran To Mr Troll I am writing to tell you some advice. Can you stop bullying us? We do not like it. Can you respect us? Do you want to get trout from the secret river? If you are a bit better behaved we will let you. If you be nice. If you do not stop you will go t prison. We are warning you. Would you like to come for a barbecue on Saturday night? By Jack. To Mr Troll I am writing to tell you to change your behavior. You have to be nice to your neighbours. You need to respect your neighbours and let them cross over the bridge. They are trying to get food on the other side of the bridge. They don’t want to be eaten by you. They want to stay alive. If you leave them alone, you can come to my barbecue tonight. It is fish. From Jaxson

Some Writing from the Wonderfully Clever kids from Room One!

Climbing Down

I was standing on top of the abseiling tower and I

peered down. It was a long way down, I couldn’t

believe I was actually going to do it. I started

shaking and my hands started to sweat, not just

because I was wearing gloves but because I was

scared half to death.

Ronny clipped me to the ropes and told me to

start lowering myself down. I did as I was told

and started leaning back, it was so nerve-racking.

My heart was pounding like you wouldn’t believe.

Finally I was allowed to start walking. I started

walking and Ronny told me I was doing good.

Jodie told me too look at her, I looked at her and

smiled once I realized she’d taken a photo. Rose

told me to hop down so I stretched out onto my

toes and started hopping. When I was about

halfway down I thought, Hey! This isn’t so scary! I

stopped hopping and moon-walked back down,

“That was awesome!” I said and handed the

harness, helmet and gloves to the next person.

By Gabby

Abseiling rules!!!!

I looked at the ladder with the NO GO sign, only it

didn’t have a sign? Someone had taken it off so we

could go up to the top. I started tingling with

excitement as I started climbing up. I simply couldn’t

wait to take those stinky black gloves off! They were

all sweaty and

disgusting, I wouldn’t be surprised if my hands were

melting! Fortunately I knew that wasn’t really possible.

I got to the top and looked around, it was just so high!

But I wasn’t too worried about the height I was

worried about the rope! It had been taking on a lot of

people lately… what if it snapped in half and I fell to

my doom? I took several deep breaths and started

walking… then jumping then almost leaping!

When reached the bottom of the tower I felt so happy

I wanted to shout it out! Those breaths could have

been my last…...

But that can’t really happen either… or at least I don’t

think so...

By Hazel

Nerve-Racking Heights

Yes! We were at Bridge Valley adventure park!

I saw the high dive platform and I was determined

to do it!

I shuffled towards the high dive platform. My blood

was pumping! I was so nervous and I had pins and

needles all over my body! There were so many

butterflies in my stomach.

Suddenly my name was called out and I slowly

walked to the edge and I looked down. Gee I’m a

long way up! Everyone was encouraging me to do it.

That’s it, it’s too high… I turned around. All of a

sudden my mind took over and it threw my body

back over the edge!!!

Bye! Bye! Everybody!

I was scared out of my wits, in fact, I was so scared

my eyes nearly popped out of my head!!!

I was plummeting towards the lake! Aaahhhhhh!

Kasplosh!!!

Hey I achieved my goal and that was refreshing!!!

By Kynan

Abseiling Excitement

I was at the tower waiting for my turn,

excited. I was watching people going down

the tower to the ground. Then it was my

turn. I put on the gloves and the helmet. I

climbed up to the top. As I climbed up I felt

squishy and stuffy.

Finally I’m there. I get connected to the

harness and stand on the edge of the tower

leaning back into mid air. I started to walk

down the tower jumping and bouncing down

to the bottom. I feel my feet touch the

ground and I take off the

harness, helmet and gloves and that’s my

first time abseiling.

The Amazing Jump

I couldn’t believe I was back here again. My brain was

telling me not to do it but my body wasn’t listening.

I inched slowly forward until my toes were over the

edge. I looked down into the murky yellow water. My

head was spinning and I was shivering all over.

I heard people cheering me on….

So I jumped. It seemed to take forever to reach the

water. I hit the water with a splash that I felt sure

would hit Mr Cullen at the top of the high dive

platform. My eyes were wide open but I couldn’t see

anything and then I started the long journey

towards the surface.

I burst out the top and started swimming to the island.

I was so proud of myself…..I began swimming back to

have another go.

By Rosie

THE FREAKY HIGH DIVE

I’ve never tried anything like this...

It was scary at the start but when I felt the wind blow

through my face I knew I could do it. I jumped, splash!

It felt like I fell out of the sky and landed on a mallet! I

swam back to shore and looked at the platform that

I’d just jumped off….And I felt freaked out! I swam

back to shore thinking I could do it again. I ran across

to the platform.... I thought I could do a trick? I was

going to dive straight down …I made my arms into an

arrow and I put my toes over the edge and pushed off.

I felt the wind brushing through my hair, it felt like it

was pushing me up and down. I felt like a fire bolt

speeding down to earth. I finally hit the water, I went

straight down very deep. I swam back up until my

head was just sticking out of the water and I swam

back to the island. I flipped over on my back with my

feet in the water.

I knew I could do again, I knew it. I looked over at the

high dive thinking how proud I was. I thought hard

about how and why I just did that. I did very well

jumping off the high dive that day.

The Nervous Swing

I take nervous, shaky steps up the ladder as I stretch

one foot then the other. My heart was pumping and I

couldn’t feel my toes!

Take deep breaths Mia, I told myself and definitely do

not look down! I can’t help it…. I look down and I see

a soft bouncy castle mat! I feel safer but part of me is

scared out of my wits but also exited!

“GO MIA!!!’’ I hear my cousin say. I hold onto the bar

and… WHOOSH! I swing out and in…. ‘WHOOHOO!’ I

shout. My hand touches the other bar but I’m nervous

and my hand slips and whoops! I’m too late! My hand

slips and I fall! Yahoo! I shout. As I fall I sink down

unexpectedly and I slide off.

“That was awesome!” I say as I go off to try it again.

By Mia

THE SCARIEST THING IN MY LIFE!!

I think to myself, don’t look down!! I cant help it so I

look down….SCARY my mind screams as I stand back up

on the platform. I put my thumb back in the clip and

lean back and this time ……I do it!!

When I reach half way the clip cracks! My life is over,

I’m going to die, I think…. but I don’t because I reached

the bottom safely. I felt awesome and proud because I

actually abseiled down!

By Ellie

The Whizzing Water World

I’m running to the water slide. I can see the blue

swervy slide and the green bush. I can smell the lake

water and it smells like eel sludge! I’m feeling nervous.

My heart is racing… My turn… My blood is pumping…

Here I go!

I feel the wind flying into my face. And… Splash! Into

the water. I’m feeling great!

By Hugh

Tremendous Dive

Here I was jogging along the stone track to the high dive

platform at Bridge Valley camp. I could smell the water,

it was a nice smell and it calmed my thoughts for a

couple of seconds. But I was still trembling about jump-

ing off the high dive platform. The track was getting

steeper and below me there were kids screaming with

happiness.

Now I’m there. There weren’t very many people in the

line so it was a short wait. Now it’s my turn, I’m 15

meters up and I’m scared!!! Mr Cullen says the water is

clear of people and I want to jump but I’m so scared! I

close my eyes and jump….it seems like I’m in the air for

ever. But I wasn’t. I brace myself for the big splash just

in time. Then it happens…SPLASH!! I swim to the island

and think it wasn’t that bad at all and I went off to do

it again!
