Niagara FallsMuseum Reopening

The Niagara Falls History Museum will reopen with
a bang after an extensive expansion project.
New to the museum is the Gale Family War of 1812
Gallery, showing the perspective of those
who witnessed the Battle of
Lundy's Lane. Opening festivities
will include entertainment and
activities to entertain all ages.
Fort ErieSiege
August 11-12, 2012
350 Lakeshore Rd., Fort EriePut on by the Niagara Parks Commission, the 2012 Siege
of Fort Erie will be the biggest re-enactment for them
to date. Visit the site of the wars "Bloodiest Battle" and
see history come alive. Featuring the new Welcome
Centre at the fort, the Siege will host a variety
of activities for the public throughout the
weekend. Step back into a time of red coats,
black powder and gray fortress walls.
Battle ofQueenstonHeightsOctober 13, 201214184 Niagara River
Pkwy., Niagara Falls
One of 1812s most historically significant battles
occurred on October 13 when American forces
attacked at Queenston, killing the leader of the
British forces, Major General Isaac Brock. This
commemorative event will re-enact the Battle of
Queenston Heights, as well as the burial of Brock,
accompanied by 19th century period music.
New Year's LeveeJanuary 1, 2012
Fort George, 26 Queen St.,Niagara-on-the-Lake
Celebrate the first official event of the
bicentennial in the Niagara Region! Welcome in
the New Year, pledge allegiance to our Sovereign,
and raise a toast to the continued prosperity of our
nation. There will be ceremonial cannon salutes
by the Fort George Artillery and music by the Fort
George Fife and Drum Corps.
Opening Ceremonies
June 15-18, 2012Throughout the Region
The Opening Ceremonies, marking the 200th
anniversary of the proclamation of war. Various
events will take place throughout the region.
(i.e. musical performances, cannon-fire exchangebetween Fort George and Fort Niagara, candlelit
walk/ceremony, etc.)

tradition of holding a full military parade
and celebration for armies returning
from war.The grand parade will feature
over 50 military units, bands and
re-enactors honouring all of the militaries
from the three combatant nations in 1812
along with our First Nation Allies.
