180 degree rule The 180-degree rule is where there is an imaginary line you will have whilst filming and it is a line that you cannot cross or you it runs the risk of making the film being unrealistic. An example of this is if you start on the left in one shot and it automatically transfers over to the left in the next shot, it can lead to the scene becoming slightly disorientated and not make complete sense.
