“O primeiro passo da melomania é uma birra” é o raciocínio que
serve como ponto de partida de uma exploração das relações entre
música, harmonia, melodia, timbre e cultura. Em I by You by
Everybody, a coreógrafa Seung Yoon decide realizar um filme sem
qualquer experiência. Nesse processo, dão-se encontros que capturam
o que é a arte, a juventude e a amizade.
‘The first step of melomania is a tantrum’ is the thought
process that reveals the correlations between music, harmony,
melody, timbre and culture. In I by You by Everybody, choreographer
Seung Yoon decides to make a film with no prior experience. Several
encounters take place in the process, capturing the essence of art,
youth and friendship.

Too, a câmara-corpo de Lech Kowalski percorre as zonas mais pobres
de Paris ao lado de um indígena norte-americano, as zonas dos
refugiados e sem-abrigo com quem conversam.
A mind-blowing journey through Paris: in Underneath, we travel
the underground tunnels and sewers through the inner arteries of
the city guided by those who make this place theirs; in This Is
Paris Too, Lech Kowalski’s camera-body travels the poorest areas of
Paris next to a North-American native, the areas of the refugees
and homeless people with whom they talk.

arrasta-se durante anos, deixando as vidas dos moradores em
suspenso.
The film bears witness to the last daily routines in the Aleixo
housing project, which exude tension given the coerced fate.
Between the fall of the first and last towers, the demolition
process drags on for years, leaving the lives of its inhabitants
hanging.

filmou o pai, bon vivant e próspero homem de negócios. Film About a
Father Who é a tentativa de compreender o que liga uma família para
além do que se construiu à superfície.
In an unfinished house, the reading of its Descriptive Memory
and the collection of documents about its construction process
awaken fragments of uncertain memories. Lynne Sachs filmed her
father, a bon vivant and successful businessman, between 1984 and
2019. Film About a Father Who attempts to understand what connects
a family beyond the surface.

of the Brazilian military dictatorship. 50 years after being
detained, Caetano Veloso describes his days in solitary, performs
songs that marked his incarceration, and revisits painful
incidents.

seus nomes parte de textos de Walter Benjamim para reflectir sobre
a relação entre imagens, nomes e conhecimento. Em The Missing One,
a câmara é também o que aproxima. Após anos separados, Rareş
Ienasoaie faz este filme para voltar a conhecer a sua irmã mais
velha, isolada pelo vício de morfina.
A video camera captures fleeting moments. as sombras e os seus
nomes is based on texts by Walter Benjamin and reflects upon the
relation between images, names and knowledge. In The Missing One,
the camera is also what brings closer. After years apart, Rareş
Ienasoaie makes this film to once again get to know his older
sister, isolated by her morphine addiction.

francesa, entre Dunquerque e Calais, porque o tempo apaga o que as
pessoas constroem.
Two films based on the ghosts inhabiting the landscape. In O que
não se vê, Paulo Abreu goes back to footage from a cancelled
project and finds a narrative on friendship and cinema. Northern
Range displays the transformations on the French coast between
Dunkirk and Calais, given that time erases what people build.

direito ao lugar. Em Gevar’s Land, 46 anos depois, e a milhares de
quilómetros, numa horta comunitária em França, apesar da seca,
renasce a esperança.
Two Syrian refugees from two different wars rebuild their home.
In Quneitra 74, Mohammad Malas follows a woman who returns to her
house—destroyed in the meantime—in a mute cry for the right to a
place. In Gevar’s Land, 46 years after and thousands of miles away,
in a community garden in France, hope is reborn despite the
drought.

discussion that will provide an overview of what it means to
produce films in Portugal nowadays. Based on the notion of a
consistent past and a living present, what future will Portuguese
film production bring?

The film follows a period in the life of a couple of Cape
Verdean origin who lives in a community scheduled to be dismantled:
the neighbourhood of Barruncho, in Odivelas. Uncertain about the
future, they take care of their animals and crops, and adjust to
the daily changes.

separado. O memorial de Bohdanowicz a um amigo perdido navega por
sinais, obras de arte e memórias com candura coreográfica. Os dois
jovens bailarinos de Prologue interpretam um pas de deux com os
respectivos futuros perante o olhar intenso da câmara. Episodes –
Spring 2018 faz das trocas do seu elenco um cinema indagador e
vital, proporcionando um retrato de grupo informal de cumplicidades
e distância, corpos e mentes.
Feeling finds form in three tales of being together, apart.
Bohdanowicz’s memorial to a lost friend navigates signs, artworks
and memories with choreographic candour. Prologue’s two young
dancers perform a pas de deux with their respective futures before
the camera’s intense gaze. Episodes – Spring 2018 constructs its
cast’s exchanges into a searching, vital cinema, offering a loose
group portrait of complicities and distance, bodies and minds.
