Salah ad-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Ayyūbi, better known as Annasser Saladin, is a Kurdish Muslim leader, who became the first Ayyubid Sultan of Egypt and Syria. He bravely led Islamic armies to confront the Franks and other European Crusaders in the Levant.

At the height of his power, he ruled over Egypt, Syria, Mesopotamia, Hejaz, and Yemen. Afterwards, Alnaser Saladin Al-Ayyoubi, Ayyoub’s, took charge of the Sultanate of Egypt and the Levant and their armies in 570 AH (1175 AD).

Thirteen years later, in 583 AH (1187 AD) Arab armies under the leadership of Saladin conquered and liberated Jerusalem from the Crusader armies known in that period as Franks.

Our story takes place between these two periods. This action-packed tale, told in dance, drama, music, and film, explores the actions, intrigues, and emotions of these two vast armies as they are poised for war and the historic climax of the gathering storm of war.

Rating: PG - 15 Five years in the making, "The Grandmaster" marks grand the return of Hong Kong master filmmaker Wong Kar-wai ("Happy Together", "In the Mood for Love") with a visually breathtaking tale of betrayal, honour and love. Set against the chaos of China on the brink of war and occupation in the 30s, the film tells the story of Ip Man – the legendary Bruce Lee’s real-life kung-fu teacher. True to his impeccable style, Wong mixes the martial-arts genre with melancholy melodrama and delivers a powerful saga culminating in meticulously crafted fight scenes that play out on the big screen as ravishing ballet sequences.
