RPS CHATTER NEW NEWSLETTER NAME…NEW TERM…NEW CHAPTER!

See Saw Margery Daw….

I wonder how many of you are old enough to remember that nursery rhyme (and now you will have it stuck in your hear ) SeeSaw has been a great platform for students to share their work. In the class blog, they can also comment on each other’s work just like if they were at school. Message from the

Principal

To say the start of Term 2 has been a bit

different would be an understatement!

This rollercoaster ride we are now on will

definitely be something we remember

for the rest of our lives!

I would like to take this opportunity to

thank the AMAZING staff we have here

at Richmond Primary. They have been

on a steep learning curve, and handled

themselves and the situation with

absolute professionalism and a positive

attitude. What you are seeing at home

is evidence of the amazing job they are

doing.

The feedback we receive daily from our

community has been consistently

positive. It gives us the spark we need

to keep going. Thank you

We are constantly reflecting on what

we are doing, and as we become

more proficient in remote learning, we

will adapt and adjust or processes

accordingly. That is why we set things

in jelly because it give us some space

to wobble.

I will keep you informed if/when there

is any new information from the

Department.

That’s all for me for now. Looking

forward to seeing you all in person on

the flipside.

Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay home.

Stay happy.

SAFETY FIRST

ICT expectations and behaviors Being safe online

REMEMBER….

You’ve got this! Who taught your child how to talk?

Who taught your child how to walk?

Who taught them how to eat, sleep, laugh,

climb and play?

YOU WERE THEIR FIRST TEACHER

So……. Encourage them, help them, and be

realistic about what they can do and what you

can do. It won’t be perfect, nothing ever is.

You are there not as their school teacher but as

their support person.

WE WILL HELP YOU.

Never underestimate the learning that comes

from talking together, playing a board game,

building an inside cubby, organising a

backyard picnic, cooking a meal together,

singing and dancing, drawing, using Lego,

grooming a pet, blowing bubbles, catching

lizards, and having a meal together.

We are doing the best we can. You are doing

the best you can. They are children and what

they mostly want and need especially at this

time, is to feel safe and loved.

This experience will change the world and

will we will all remember what we did during

this time. Like our parents and grandparents

remember where they were when man first

landed on the moon…or what happened

during the first world war…. We will be able

to say “I remember when I was young and we

had to stay home from school…” Let’s work

together to ensure the emotions associated

with these memories are positive ones.

THE FINAL WORD

Thank you!

Finally I want to say how proud I am of the positive attitude of our parents/guardians, our students and our staff. We have heard so many stories this week of parents/guardians, students and teacher communicating and working together to ensure this rollercoaster ride we are on, it a positive experience for everyone. Congratulations RPS community on a very heart warming and encouraging start to this phase of learning. We are so proud of the way you are all so invested in the education of your children.

The novelty of remote learning has increased the use of technology in most homes, and families are wanting to share these experiences with the world through a variety of social media platforms. When using digital technologies, we expect all our students to behave in a safe, responsible and ethical manner. This is achieved by:

Respecting each other and communicating in a positive and supportive manner

Protecting privacy by not giving out personal details

Protecting the privacy of other and never posting or forwarding their personal details or images without their consent.

Talking to a teacher or trusted adult if they feel uncomfortable or unsafe online

Talking to a teacher or trusted adult if they see others participating in unsafe, inappropriate or hurtful online behaviours.

Carefully considering the content that is uploaded or posted online.

Investigating and following the terms and conditions of use for specific apps (e.g. age restrictions, parental consent requirements, etc.)

Please remember that to publish photos of students (other than you own) or staff members without their written consent on personal social media sites is a reportable offence. If you wish to publish images of students (other than your own) or staff on your personal social media, you must have written consent prior to doing so. If you haven’t already done so, please make sure your child has access to the relevant media platforms we are using during this time of remote learning. Prep – Year 2 Year 3 – 6 Seesaw Family Seesaw Seesaw Class Google suite Zoom Zoom All going to plan, our zoom group “connections” will commence with students next week. Expect an email from your classroom teacher with a meeting time and password to enable these connections to occur. During these meetings we request that a parent/guardian is in the room at all times. If you have any questions, please contact your classroom teacher.
