"Birth is natural, women have been doing it for

ages, less intervention is better."

"I felt like I didn’t have autonomy in the hospital, I want my birth experience

to be one where I felt more in control ."

"I am not sure what to expect but all I know is

that I will be surrounded by my family and that

eases my worries."

"Giving birth shouldn’t be a process that is

scary but it should be seen as an empowering

experience."

What Do You Do In A Home Birth?Labor and delivery observationEvery woman labors and delivers in various positions. Whatever is comfortable for mom is what position she will be in. Here are a few common positions drawn up. These positions are catergorized in three areas - relaxation, delivery and streching.

Taking cost into consideration, external circulators would be the best choice. The following are some stylizing experiments.

Based on surveys and one on one interviews with mothers, many had mentioned that getting in the shower or pouring water on their backs soothed the laboring process. Adding a retractable shower would bring more comfort to the mothers.

The most obvious identifier is the logo centered in a circular plain.

Layering teqniches are complex yet minimal.

Profile is often based on circles including rounded edges or pill shaped forms.

Textures include brushed metal and min-imal to no textured patterns.

Buttons and inserts are raised with a round form.

Hard shell products have a semi gloss finish with small strips of metallic material.

Lume was designed from hand crafting the base out of maple wood and lazer cutting the veneer for the side wings.

Each veneer piece was designed with a pointed top to accentuate the curved metal wings. Not only is Lume a desk lamp but it also can be a wall lamp.

Kobenhavn stools easliy stack together and create an aesthetically beautiful design from the top vew as well.

Every part was made is sets of three and each joint is naturally exposed. The maple dowels and slits were hand crafted and provide contrast.

The chamfers under the seat and the slight taper of the legs create a lighter more scandinavian design. Each chamfer was planed by hand.
