• The Godavari is the second longest river in

India. (1st longest river - Ganga)

• Source at Brahmagiri Mountain, (Western

Ghats) Triambakeshwar, Maharashtra.

• Flowing 1,465 kilometres (910 mi) emptying

into Bay of Bengal.

• Flowing through states of Maharashtra,

Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and

New India by 2022

• India going to complete celebrate its 75th anniversary of Independence Day in

2022.

• The prime minister Independence Day speech delivered a clear vision for a

new India by 2022.

• Mentioned about 75th anniversary of “Quit India movement”, Gandhi ji’s

“Sabarmati ashram”, Tilak’s 100 years festivals and 125years for Ganesh

festival (Started by tilak).

Guam Island • Guam is an unincorporated United States territory situated in Micronesiain

the western Pacific Ocean.

• Capital city of Guam is Hagataa.

• The issues between north Korea and the USA rising tensions on this island.

Navic – IRNSS-1H

NAVIC

• The Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) with an operational

name of NAVIC.

• It is an autonomous regional satellite navigation system, that provides

accurate real-time positioning and timing services.

• The system at-present consist of a constellation of 7 satellites with two

additional satellites on ground as stand-by.

• NAVIC will provide two levels of service,

o The 'standard positioning service' will be open for civilian use.

o A 'restricted service' (an encrypted one) for authorized users (including

military).

IRNSS-1H

• For the first-time, Indian satellite building industry looking for closer links with

private participants.

• IRNSS-1H going to replace IRNSS-1A satilite.

• Public – Private partnership in satellite industry will get more investments in

satellite building, which is a great welcoming step.

• IRNSS-1h was one of the NAVIC satellites, which will be used as a spare or a

replacement satellite and assembled with a private partnership.

Article 80

80. Composition of the Council of States

• (1) The Council of States shall consist of

o (a) twelve members to be nominated by the President in accordance

with the provisions of clause ( 3 ); and

o (b) not more than two hundred and thirty-eight representatives of the

States and of the Union territories

• (2) The allocation of seats in the Council of States to be filled by

representatives of the States and of the Union territories shall be in

accordance with the provisions in that behalf contained in the fourth

Schedule.

• (3) The members to be nominated by the President under sub clause (a) of

clause ( 1 )

o shall consist of persons having special knowledge or practical

experience in respect of such matters as the following, namely:

Literature, science, art and social service.

• (4) The representatives of each State in the council of States shall be elected

by the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of the State in

accordance with the system of proportional representation by means of the

single transferable vote

• (5) The representatives of the Union Territories in the council of States shall

be chosen in such manner as Parliament may by law prescribe.

• The current issues of nominated members attendance to Rajya Sabha.

• Sachin Tendulkar, Rekha and other nominated members poor attendance was

a hot topic.

Dhamra Port • It was a newly developed Port in Bhadrak district, Odisha, India, on the shore

of the Bay of Bengal.

• Garry Kimovich Kasparov is a Russian (Capital Moscow) -Croatian chess

grandmaster, former World Chess Champion, writer, and political activist,

whom many consider to be the greatest chess player of all time.

• Current world champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway - Oslo).

Satish Dhawan Space Centre

• Satish Dhawan Space Centre or Sriharikota High Altitude Range is a rocket

launch centre operated by Indian Space Research Organisation.

• It is located in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.

Chandrayaan-2

• Chandrayaan-2 is India's second lunar exploration mission.

• Developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation, the mission is planned

to be launched to the Moon by a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle.

• Planned to launch by march 2018.

• The wheeled rover will move on the lunar surface and will perform on-site

chemical analysis.

Chandrayaan-1

• Chandrayaan-1 was India's first lunar probe. It was launched by the Indian

Space Research Organisation in October 2008, and operated until August

2009.

• The mission included a lunar orbiter and an impactor.

o to design, develop, launch and orbit a spacecraft around the Moon

using an Indian-made launch-vehicle

o to conduct scientific experiments using instruments on the spacecraft

which would yield data:

o to detect water-ice on the Moon

Red Fort

• Constructed in 1639 by the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as the palace of

• It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007 as part of the Red

• Odisha’s first doppler radar that will help forecast cyclonic storms, excessive

rainfall, thunderstorms and hailstorms with greater accuracy. Ever Green Revolution – 2016

• Suggested for the ever green revolution, to full fill the need of the farmers and the

country.

Ever Green revolution recommendations

1. Increase farming without ecological harm.

2. Proper and effective nutrient supply as per the crop.

3. Scientific water management (Like Israel).

4. Rain water harvesting.

5. Scientific rotation of crops.

6. Sustainability of farming activity.

7. Breeding & GM Seeds must be regulated efficiently.

8. Unique facilities like “Special Farming Zones”.

9. Establishment of laboratories for soil health.

10. Providing farming security.

He suggested many ways to protect farmers interests.

o Increases productivity using organic farming

o Reduce ecological harm – avoiding extra fertilizers

o Low cost production to maximize returns.

o MSP will be more than 50% of average cost of production

o Must control food inflation

Loan waivers

Loan waivers was not a correct solution, instead go for contract based farming.

(Like china – Farmers as contractors.)

o Improve the ways of procurement and MSP

o Steps to improve productivity.

o Control market surplus.

• Now India needs consumption process and the country already done with

production area analysis.

• Food security act must be implemented more efficiently.

• Pest control and disease resistant.

• Rotational crops

• GM crops must be tested in a long-term basis.

Black Carbon – Aeroplanes

• The black carbons emmitions by aeroplanes causing depletion of “ozone” &

“diversion of monsoons”.

• The other problems are

o Breathing disorders

o Upsetting monsoon climate

o Quicker glassier melting

o Chain chemical reactions
