Economy

Yaoundé is above all a tertiary city. There are, however, a few

industries: breweries, sawmills, carpentry, tobacco, paper mills,

mechanics and building materials.

The shopping center

The main shopping center is in the downtown area around Kennedy

Avenue. There are shops, headquarters or representations of some

companies.

The bank district

The Hippodrome district located not far from the town hall brings

together several banks of hotel structures and public companies,

Private and parapublic markets.

The market

The largest and most renowned markets are the Mokolo market, the

Mfoundi market and the Central market. Other markets such as

Biyem-Assi, Ekounou, Madagascar, Melen, Mendong, Nkol-Eton,

Nsam are not insignificant.

A word of the President of the Union African Karate Federations (UFAK)

Dear Participants,

In the margins of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August 2016, the

129th General Assembly of the International Olympic Committee decided to

admit Karate as an Olympic sport.

This admission requires a professional and responsible attitude.

The UFAK must be in line with the vision of WKF President Antonio ESPINOS

for the emergence of a united and indivisible karate.

We decided to give a new orientation to the competitions within the UFAK. The

Senior Championship will now be paired with the Junior Championship.

Our objective is clear: to make our competitions more attractive and to allow

nations to ensure the sporting succession in serenity, and to enter the World

Ranking Qualifying for the Olympic Games

We are reassured of the stability of Cameroon, Africa in miniature and want in

our way, to accompany the dream of the Head of the STATE, his Excellency

Paul BIYA, who wants to make his country a reference of major sporting

events

We still have in mind the organization in Yaounde of qualifying tournaments

for the Olympic Games, the Women's Football CAN.

I invite officials, athletes, volunteers, members of the UFAK Executive

Committee, specialized committees to present a positive image and

demonstrate to everyone that karate is a sport of gentlemen.

I wish that the 8th Junior Championship and the 16th Senior Women's and

Women's Karate Championship take place in a spirit of conviviality, fraternity

and unity.

Sportively Yours
