see in our Middle Eastern programs is indeed encouraging. Now we have student communities in Dubai (UAE), Doha (Qatar) and Muscat (Oman) with promising prospects from Kuwait and Bahrain. Empowering leadership has paved way for enthusiastic and engaged endeavours by employees. PIM will continue to produce value in practising values, as the nation’s pioneering premier postgraduate entity. PIM is all of us together. PIMA projects the prestige of PIM to the professional community. Your personal commitment towards application of gained knowledge and professional contribution to workplaces are of utmost importance. Let me appreciate the valued commitment of the Executive Committee that is stepping down. The incoming Committee has to continuously improve the performance of PIMA, in turn raising the profile of PIM. PIM should continue to go, grow and glow. Let’s strive to fly higher. Best wishes!

Let us collaborate for a brighter tomorrowThe current economic and business environment incidentally beckons professional groups such as PIMA to participate in discussions impacting on decision makers of the public and private sectors of Sri Lanka. PIMA’s role in this context is vital in creating realistic new concepts, while challenging the status quo (where necessary) that hampers the greatly anticipated and much required socio-economic development of the country. This opportunity has paved way for PIMA in the process of aligning its new direction progressively toward effectively playing a strategic role at a national level. This exercise requires an efficacious communication model, precise positioning of PIMA and active membership engagement from the beginning. Effective communication is the key to an interactive and a supportive membership in

a professional association. The link between the leadership, membership and all other key stakeholders comes through several channels of communications. With this in mind, the leadership team of PIMA recognised the importance of a newsletter to be used as a vehicle to deliver the consolidated information of relevance and significance to our membership on a quarterly basis.PIMA has embarked on a journey to reposition itself to the level it should ideally be. Presently, our board members, with the guidance from PIM, are engaged in this endeavour to strategically elevate our association gradually and steadily. In the process of executing the plan, the entire board is working individually and as teams on specified tasks to reach our SMART goals successfully. Strengthening membership engagement is one of our main objectives to expand the horizons of networking among our professional fraternity. Our alumni are spread across all professional groups and industries/sectors nationwide. Remarkably, there is a significant number of members holding senior positions in organizations locally and internationally that we can all be proud of. Our immediate challenge is to connect most of them through PIMA. Therefore, I earnestly invite members to take part in PIMA events, communicate frequently and update us with membership information via [email protected].
