Reporting into MD and responsible for developing growth strategy, with the senior leadership team, creating necessary relationships and offerings to build business. Effectively started from blank sheet, as legacy business not sales driven. The processes for CRM, business prospecting, developing sales pipeline, bid/no bid, tender submissions, pricing/contract review had to be initiated/amended and driven into the new business ethos; also responsible for PR and communications. In the last 2 years, role re-structured, to focus on growing need for sustained company engagement at a high level, with a range of key audiences, including: Westminster, Scottish parliament, local government and the UK MoD. Also managed relationship with Airbus Group UK and acted as principal staff officer to the MD, including drafting papers on strategic recommendations and participating in government, trade association and corporate studies. Protected and consolidated MoD core work as far as was possible, whilst building new markets and services to offset decline in legacy helicopter support contracts. Established VAUK as a licensed Honeywell Heavy Maintenance Facility for the ALF 502R/LF507 engines; subsequently led bid to take on support, from Honeywell, for all operators of these engines who had used the Luton engine shop – more than doubled annual throughput in the engines business. Set up a ‘voice of the customer’ strategic feedback process for key customer accounts. Played key UK role in the acquisition of VA by Eurocopter in June 2011. Led the highest value bid ever mounted by VA, for support of T55 engines in RAF Chinook fleet. Country Director (UK), Defence & Space Mar 04 – Aug 08Honeywell Aerospace – Defence & Space Market SegmentPromoted to Account Team Director for all Honeywell’s UK Defence & Space customers, responsible for growth, cash flow, customer relationship management and pursuit leadership across Honeywell aerospace products/services for UK defence market. Managed 10 key accounts, with 2007 orders booked of £100m, key pursuit 100% win rate and customer satisfaction (using Siebel process) at or above required levels. Exceeded all 2007 growth targets by 25%. Developed strategic relationships with key partners in UK, to enable growth into new markets. Chair of British American Business Inc. Services Marketing Manager, EMEA Jan 02 – Feb 04Honeywell Aerospace Electronic Systems, BasingstokeTransitioned to commercially focused business development role, with responsibility for growing avionics product support for civil customers in EMEA and also leadership of the UK Front Office team of 5. Initiated and developed marketing strategy for capturing B737NG and ERJ 145 support business. Set up innovative partnering agreements with air transport and regional airlines, enabling growth. Key contributor to 50% growth in billable repair and overhaul revenue (£32m) over 2 years. Avionics lead negotiator in ground breaking 20 year support contract proposal, worth over £17m.

The requirement was to expand Honeywell’s commercial avionics product support activities into the defence market, starting effectively from a blank sheet Developed and put into practice effective terms of reference and business development strategy. Set up virtual team, to establish presence within EMEA avionics aftermarket. Negotiated innovative agreements with various government & commercial customers, growing

government contracts order book from zero to over £5m in first 18 months.

ROYAL NAVY SERVICE

Programme Manager Sep 97 - Feb 99Directorate of Helicopter Projects, MoD Procurement Executive, BristolResponsible for procurement and commissioning of Helicopter Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) into the tri-Service helicopter fleet - technically challenging programme, involving over 300 aircraft, with a total contract value in excess of £100M and a very wide stakeholder base. Briefed and communicated with wide range of stakeholders, in Industry, the Services and the MoD. Secretary to the MoD’s top-level helicopter airworthiness policy-forming committee.

Project Leader Mar 97 - Sep 97Director General Aircraft (Navy) (DGA(N)), BathConducted study, to identify issues regarding intellectual property rights (IPR) which could effect the future strategic direction of the Naval Aircraft Repair Organisation (NARO). Report presented to schedule and very well received, addressing all key requirements.

Implementation Team MemberAssistant Chief of Defence Staff (Logistics), MoD London Aug 96 - Mar 97Hand-picked to represent the RN on a high-level team set up to develop and implement detailed plans for the formation and launch of the proposed Defence Aviation Repair Agency (DARA), which was to undertake the in-house deep repair and overhaul of all the UK’s Service aircraft and equipment. Conducted a detailed strategic analysis of the UK aircraft deep repair business and its customers. Prepared briefs for senior officers and drafted responses to parliamentary questions.

Operations Director Feb 95 - Aug 96Naval Aircraft Repair Organisation (NARO), Gosport, HampshireInternally promoted, by the CE, to breathe life into a moribund business change initiative. Sat on the board of Directors of a government Agency, with annual net output of over £91M. Led a staff of over 400, with particular responsibility for the implementation of a manufacturing resource

planning (MRPII) based change process. Maintained production output, with 7% reduction in operating costs.

Engineering Manager Jan 94 - Feb 95Naval Aircraft Repair Organisation (NARO), Gosport, HampshireResponsible for defining workload standards and approval of repair schemes, in an ISO 9001 repair organisation; provision and maintenance of all buildings, equipment and tools for the production task. Led and managed a staff of 130 industrial and non-industrial civil servants. Directly accountable for annual operating budget of some £8M.

Previous Navy work experience Jan 81 - Dec 92Head of Lynx helicopter Squadron engineering department; programme management and troubleshooting of aero-engine/equipment deep repair for US Navy; deputy head of air engineering department HMS Invincible; training design/QA at RN air engineering training school; and deputy head of engineering department on a Wessex V helicopter squadron.
