15th June 2018
Year 5
On Thursday 14th June, 5 Linden went to the Sir Francis Crick institute as part of sci-ence week. We felt like scientists wearing lab coats and goggles. We tested different chemicals to discover if they were soluble or not. Also, we were able to have some fun with circuits, conducting electrical experi-ments. It was a fab day! We had a great time.
Nursery Laurel Class
Minibeast Explorers! Summer is finally here and that means lots and lots of minibeasts have come out to play! We have been so excit-ed in Laurel Class to find our new many legged friends re-laxing on the slide, crawling along the walls, munching on crisp green leaves and buzzing around us. Some of us have taken to becoming minibeast detectives. We love using our ob-servation skills and magnifying glasses to spot the minibeasts! Have a look at some of the new friends we’ve found
Year 2 In 2 Sycamore we have been planting our own gardens. In science we learnt about what plants need to live: water, sunlight, and soil and we decided to have a go at being responsible gardeners. We
have sown seeds for 25 deferent types of wild flowers and we can't wait to watch the sprout and bloom! We will be tracking their pro-gress scientifically with a picture diary. Watch this space for more
news!
Years 5
A team of scientists from Year 5
went to Regent High to compete in
the yearly Science Challenge.
They were investigating peripheral
vision. This means how far round
the field of vision goes. There were
13 teams in total.
The Year 5 team proved their findings in a very dramatic perfor-
mance and we are extremely pleased to announce that their hard
work paid off and they won the challenge!
Well done to , Ilma, Ella, Hamza, Esha, Majda, Omar, Rahmo, Anas,
Elez and Learta!
Online Safety Support for Parents/ Guardians
School Councillors have completed their Digital
Leaders training. As a result of their training council-
lors produced an online safety
leaflet with useful information
and great tips for children to be
safe online. The leaflet will be
presented at a KS2 assembly in
July.
If you have any questions regarding online safety
such as if the games your child plays are appropriate
for his/her age, YouTube channels and contacts
through social media, please contact the school of-
fice to book an appointment with our CEOP Ambas-
sador, Alvaro Scrivano.
MAKE SURE ALL HOLIDAYS OR JOURNEYS ABROAD ARE BOOKED IN SCHOOL HOLIDAY TIME. HOLIDAY LEAVE DURING TERM TIME WILL NOT BE GRANTED.

Camden football tournament
19 children from Years 5 and 6 took part in a Cam-
den football tournament at Coram's Fields. Our
girls drew two and lost two of their matches,
while our boys won on, lost two and drew two of
their games. All of the squad played very well.
'Special mention' awards were given to Amine for
a hat-tick against Carlton, Hussain for some great
goalkeeping and Sude for outstanding perfor-
mances in all of our games.
Year 3
Year 3 have really been enjoying their new topic, 'It's a Wonderful World'. They have been finding out all about the different flags all around the world and what they mean, as well as designing their own flags. The children have also started group projects about the different continents, looking at maps to find what countries are in each continent and asking questions like 'What languages do they speak in Africa?' and 'Why is there so much ice in Antarctica?'. They are excited to find out the answers to these questions as they con-tinue their research! In their science workshop, Year 3 were learning all about bones. Dr Andy brought in a human skeleton (named Bernard) which encouraged everyone to think about why we need bones and how bones grow. The children wanted to find out whether older people always have bigger bones than younger people, so they did an experiment where they meas-ured and compared arm spans. They also got to look at some real animal bones! Dr Andy had so much fun working with Year 3 that he invited
