    1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE

    A. All valves and similar control gear7 used in the wors7 shall have themanufacturer?s name or logo7 si@e7 pressure rating and direction of flow cast3on7 on the body.

    B. =niformity should be maintained in respect of connection standards 4threadsor flanges5 throughout. 2here this is not practical due to ustifiable reasons7ensure compatibility7 by using appropriate adaptors7 conversion spools7mating flanges and the lie with the written approval of the Engineer.

    C. Pipes and fittings used in the wors shall have the standard of manufacture7type7 class or rating etc.7 continuously pointed or mared otherwise incompliance with the standard of manufacture materials without suchindemnification shall be reected.

    1.05 SUBMITTALS

    A. Product data including data on pipe materials7 pipe fittings7 valve andaccessories and recommend coating materials7 samples and manufacturer?sinstallation instructions or recommendations shall be submitted under 

     provisions of the #eneral Conditions of Contract.

    B. Copies of valve ordering schedules shall be submitted for approval prior to placing the orders.

    3.06 PIPE SLEEES

    A. !urnish sleeves in connection with all piping passing through walls7 slabs7 building construction. "he sleeves shall be set in new concrete construction before pouring. "he Contractor shall chec the positions and satisfy himselfthat they are set correctly.

    3.0# FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

    A. "esting of Pressuri@ed Piping)

    %. "he pipes shall be ointed7 plugged and shall have been in position for at least 8/ hours7 before the tests are carried out.

    8. "he piping shall be tested for line7 gradient and water tightness. "heContractor shall furnish all labor7 and necessary testing instrumentssuch as gauges7 pumps etc. as directed by the Engineer. A minimum of two 485 nos. identical pressure gauges shall be installed at extremitiesof the piping circuit to be tested.

    0. !ill the piping with clean fresh water7 leaving all high points open toallow for purging of air. Allow a soaing period of at least 8/ hoursfor cement lined or concrete pipes.

    /. !or the test procedure to be carried out correctly7 all measuringdevices used must be reliably accurate to a differential3pressurereading of '.% bar.

    &. "he pressure measuring device should be attached at the lowest pointof installation being tested. "he installed but still uncovered pipeconduits must be filled with filtered drining water and purged of air.

    (. "he system should be at least tested at %.& times the operating pressure and not less than %& bars.

    +. "he shutoff valves and taps located upstream and downstream of heaters and storage tans must be closed to isolate the section being

     pressure3tested from the rest of the system.

    3.0% PIPE BRACKETS AND SUPPORTS

    A. All Pipes must be routed so that thermal expansion 4heating and cooling5 isunhindered.

    B. "hermal expansion between two fixed points can be absorbed by expansionelbows7 compensators or a directional change of the piping.

    C. 2here pipes are fixed exposed to ceilings using pipe clips7 no supportingshells need to be used. "he following table shows the maximum fixingdistance F between the individual pipe clips for the various pipe si@es.

    3.10 CLEANING

    A. "he entire system must be thoroughly flushed out once pressure testing has been concluded. !urther details of the procedures used for pipe3conduit

    flushing can be found in the technical rules for drining3water installationlisted in section %%.8 of D-9 %638.

    B. ,ulti3layer pipes should be in any case not subect to the danger of impurity3induced corrosion. "herefore7 the multi3layer system shall be flushed out for 

     both reasons of hygiene and for removing impurities and foreign bodies. "heflushing procedure shall be carried out using pure filtered water at the normalsupply pressure7 unless indicated otherwise. "he filters used shall conform toD-9 %6(08 standards.

    C. All devices and delicate fittings shall not be fitted until after the flushing

    operation has taen place. !ine filters attached to valves and taps shall becleaned out after flushing unless they can be removed or bypassed.

    D. All maintenance valves7 shutoff taps7 pressure reducers 4if fitted5 shall be fullyopened during flushing7 and adusted later 4regarding pressure reducingvalves5.

    E. !lushing should begin from the main shut3off valve and proceed outwards7one section and stretch at a time7 to the section located farthest from thesupply inlet. !lushing should then begin at the end of the riser and proceedfloor by floor.

    !. 2ithin each storey conduit or interval section of inlet pipe7 flushing is carriedout floor by floor in se1uence7 using the minimum number of outlet pointsshown in the following table as guide for each section being flushed7 openingthe outlet point fully for at least & minutes.

    #. "he outlet points within a particular storey are fully opened7 starting with the

    outlet point located farthest from the riser. After a five3minute flushing periodat the last flushing outlet opened7 the outlet points are shut once moreworing in reverse order.

    3.11 DISINFECTANT TREATMENT

    "he contractor shall flush the water system upon completion with fresh water thenapply disinfection treatment for the complete system in accordance with A22AC('% and relevant water ministry specifications. !lushing and disinfection treatmentshall be witnessed by an approved specialist. =pon acceptance of the treatmentresults7 the contractor shall flush the system again by fresh water until it is free of chemicals. Cost of disinfection and flushing water shall be borne by the contractor.
