    To: Governor David Y. Ige

    State of Hawaii Executive Chambers,

    State Capitol

    Honolulu, Hawai`i 96813

    Subject: Mauna a Wkea

    Aloha mai e Governor Ige,

Truth There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting. Buddha

It was my sincerest hope that both you and me would have sat down openly to work on the issues

surrounding Mauna a Wkea. This beloved Mauna that has long been recognized by my ancestors as Sacred and Divine, it is so sacred that our sandals had to be removed because of its

holiness to our God I Heavenly Father.

I want you to know that I thought long and hard before scripting this letter with the possibility

that there still may be an opportunity to change the course you and the University of Hawaii had laid out and is now in play.

You are not Kanaka Maoli but Japanese American. Your ancestors were Bushid - The way of the warrior. They lived and died by eight virtues to which there was no compromise; Rectitude

or Justice, Courage, Benevolence or Mercy, Politeness, Honesty and Sincerity, Honor, Loyalty,

    Character and Self-Control.

The United Nations Charter provides the rest of the authority to do it. An autonomous independent sovereign nation-state contemplated under

Article 1 of the 1933 Montevideo Convention on Rights and Duties of States requiring the state as a person of international law possessing the

four qualifications of (a) a permanent population, (b) a defined territory, c) government; and (d) capacity to enter into relations with the other

    states.

I, although not a Samurai but a Chinese, Hawaiian and Filipino Martial Artist, have not always

succeeded in living up to this code. I keep trying and each time that I do, I come away enriched

with the love for the human family, of self, nature and natures Gods. As a Grandmaster of Chi Kung Tung Kung Fu, Master of Hawaiian Lua, Master in Pekiti Tirsia, and student of life, its been my life long journey to teach and guide all students of life that would come to me the ways

of living in harmony with our environment and each other. I believe that when we do live this

way, nature works with us rather than against. Allowing Thirty Meter Telescope to continue is

not only about science; its about a people (Kanaka Maoli) whose ancestral lands are being decimated in the name of science. The consequences that will follow will be catastrophic.

Governor, your position is temporary and the decisions you reach can make a difference in the

quality of life that eluded my people for over 100 years. You are a politician and as one, you try

to find the middle ground. I am here to tell that when dealing with an oppressed people whose

nation was stolen finding the middle ground is not an easy task. In supporting one you neglect

the other. Balance becomes an illusion. I will tell you that each and every day we get stronger

and wiser. We are uniting and a united people are a formidable nation to be reckoned with. That

day of reckoning is close at hand.

I believe that science cannot undo the wrongs of humanity and the theft of a kingdom. It is with

clarity that I tell that what God created man cannot duplicate.

Walking the fence is not leadership. You gave TMT a green light to move ahead. At the same

time, you indicated that you would honor whatever the courts ultimately decide, so the light

might change color. While noting that the litigation is not complete, you did not ask the Thirty

Meter Telescope to delay initiation of construction to permit that completion to take place.

For those objecting to all the telescopes built or to be built on Mauna a Wkea, you call for tearing down obsolete telescopes that were going to be torn down anyway.

For those who have raised objections to the Thirty Meter Telescope based on spiritual grounds,

you offer cultural responses. Clearly, you have not quite figured that one out yet.

I congratulate you on your wisdom in essentially avoiding the real issues in order to placate

everyone. You have taken the trail blazed by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs when they

rescinded their approval of the Thirty Meter Telescope and refused to oppose the project. That

trail leads to the dead end canyon of neutrality.

The United Nations Charter provides the rest of the authority to do it. An autonomous independent sovereign nation-state contemplated under

Article 1 of the 1933 Montevideo Convention on Rights and Duties of States requiring the state as a person of international law possessing the

four qualifications of (a) a permanent population, (b) a defined territory, c) government; and (d) capacity to enter into relations with the other

    states.

At the same time, that neutrality is actually appropriate. I have communicated with you in the

past, including my letter to you about the Thirty Meter Telescope, in an attempt to open up

discussions locally to resolve the major challenges we face. You have not responded. You have

never invited me or any member of the Royal Family to kkkk with you. So be it.

Neither you nor OHA belong in this discussion. Neither of you is prepared for the storm that is

about to break around you as the truth rises, lifting the Kingdom into its proper place in the

community of nations. Your days are ending, which I hope will be perceived by you and OHA

as freeing you from having to play the false game of pretending to be legitimate. You now have

the opportunity to resign with dignity.

The real discussion is between President Barack Obama and me, as King. We do not need

intermediaries or middle men to conduct such discussions. The President knows how to reach

    me.

As far as others responding to your statement about the Thirty Meter Telescope, I urge calm and

patience. The State and County are busy digging a hole. Let them dig. When they fall in, we

will offer them assistance in climbing out.

Governor Ige, it isnt too late to make the right decision. Make your ancestors proud and your family proud and stand up for God and all that is holy unto him. Mauna a Wkea is Holy grounds and cannot be desecrated. This Kingdom is restored and I am the King, Edmund K. Silva, Jr. Alii Nui Moi
